TV shows for 11 year old?

Kayakinggg · 07/11/2025 18:08

My 11.5 year old (fairly mature) daughter can’t find anything she wants to watch on TV that I feel is suitable… she therefore ends up going on the phone or just watching catching YouTube videos.

It seems crazy that there doesn’t seemed to anything aimed at tweens anymore; I used to love Nickelodeon at her are.

Are there any modern day equivalent to Sabrina teenage witch / sister sister ?!

I don’t mind the odd swearing but not comfortable with sex / drinking scenes or talk…

She’s watched SamCat, Icarly, Sheldon, Cats eye, dumping ground, Creepers, The Bestigaters….

Anything along those lines ?!

She hates Kpop demon hunters, the babysitters club…

Thanks ☺️

Gilmore girls? Is that a bit too grown up. Dd used to love this but was maybe a bit, older.

FullLondonEye · 07/11/2025 18:17

Wednesday? Something about 'all the boys'?

WishfulThinkingToday · 07/11/2025 18:32

My 11 year old says - The Owl house, Malcolm in the Middle (both Disney).

Stranger Things
Modern Family

cornbunting · 07/11/2025 18:54

Mine loves the Goes Wrong Show, Taskmaster, and we recently watched the Celebrity Traitors, having never watched any previous series. The first couple of series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer have gone down well too.

Annoyingly the first series of Wednesday is a bit too much on the side of "horror" for her, though I think she'd like the second series.

evtheria · 07/11/2025 18:55

Malcolm in the Middle
Here We Go (BBC)
Abbott Elementary (Disney)
Ludwig (BBC)
His Dark Materials (BBC)

Maybe Lizzie McGuire if you can find episodes of that..? Could be too old-fashioned (sob!) and cheesy for her, though.

LittleBearPad · 07/11/2025 18:55

My 11 year old whizzed through Friends and Gilmore Girls.

AmberRose86 · 07/11/2025 18:56

Friends is not suitable for an 11 year old and I will die on this hill 😑

drives me nuts that they aim merchandise at that age group.

Completely agree. So many seem to let their tweens watch this that my dd got all stroppy about it!

Yup. Neither is Stranger Things - both are rated 15!

SunshinePlease24 · 07/11/2025 19:29

Only a 15 because it's a bit jumpscare at points and fairly gory. If the OPs nearly 12 year old therefore secondary school age it would probably be fine. Watch along together. Find me a Stranger Things fan who waited until they were 15 to watch it. It's definitely targeted at a younger audience than that despite what the rating says. You know your own child though.

mamaduckbone · 07/11/2025 19:35

One of my dc started watching Stranger Things at 11 (year7) and was obsessed. We watched every series together and he's looking forward to the final one coming out. We're also taking about going to see the stage show. (He's 19)
The other one tried it at the same age, freaked out at the scene in the first episode when the monster comes out of the wall, turned it off and has never gone near it since (he's now 16!)

A series of unfortunate events is great on Netflix, and Wednesday. Enola Holmes maybe?

WelcomeToMonkeyTown · 07/11/2025 19:37

If she likes SamCat I’d suggest Thundermans, Henry Danger and Haunted Hathaways. My DD is a big fan.

The musical episode of Henry Danger is my guilty pleasure 😆😆

Fairly gory, indeed. I enjoy watching it myself, but there's no way my 11yo (year 7) will be watching it for quite some time.

FcukBreastCancer · 07/11/2025 19:40

We watched all previous seasons of race across the world and traitors together. Also enjoy bake off.

In her own she does also tend to drift to you tube.

Wednesday a bit scary but probably ok.

mismomary · 08/11/2025 06:17

Just add Magic
Gortimer Gibbons

mismomary · 08/11/2025 06:18

Oh and H2O - Aussie series about mermaids.

BeverleyOnion · 08/11/2025 06:21

My son is 10 and has enjoyed…

Ghosts
Dodger
Alex Rider
Beast Games
Race across the world

WhitegreeNcandle · 08/11/2025 06:22

We do things like Traitors, race around the world and sewing bee. Another surprise was All Creatures Great and Small. Also Clarksons farm and Our Yorkshire farm.

Friends is generally fine for an 11 year old. There’s a few bits that aren’t but the vast majority is fine
