Hi my first time posting … my daughter was 6 in June and the last couple of months has developed a issue with things like crumbs on her or feeling greasy after eating she says she can feel crumbs in her bed but never ever eats upstairs gets mad if we eat on the sofa because she doesn’t want crumbs on it and has a real meltdown about it it’s starting to become a real issue i really don’t know how to deal with it I do the obvious get her changed shower her down but it’s not always possible I don’t know what to call it to research and I’m just really struggling with where to go with it

Does she have any other sensory needs? Could it be anxiety related? Those with sensory needs can be even more sensory sensitive during periods of stress and anxiety.
If you want to research or look for strategies look at Sensory Processing Disorder.

Is it pins and needles from staying in one position too long?

Personally I would take her to the GP, it sounds like anxiety.

How is she apart from that? Is she doing well at school both academically and socially? Does she have any out of school activities?

Have the school mentioned any other little quirks?

thank you she does rainbows and a school dance class she does get nervous and worried about new places but I always put it down to being quite shy as if she enjoys something she will go and being quite shy she shocks me quite a lot being randomly confident in situations I wouldn’t expect her to but she hesitates at the classroom door most mornings they have to prize her in and she does struggle a bit at school which they are supporting her with but I believe every child works at a different pace and she is progressing just slower than they would like and she is one of the younger in her class which I feel is a massive gap at this age

I’m not keen to have a label and for her to know there is a problem at this stage as I feel this could make it worse but I want to understand it to be able to help her overcome these feelings
