Hi,

I'm looking for night nappy for DD and the nappy lady service has suggested bumbles. I was just wondering if anyone has any views or advice.

Hi!

We use Bumbles for ds for night time and they are really fab! Because they're a bit more compact than other cloths (we also use Fluffles) he seems to sleep better in them. When he was little i used a booster (i cut a flannel in half and used that!) but now he's bigger i don't need to.

FAbulous, you can boost them to your hearts content, the are long in the rise so should last until potty training and are quick to dry. They were the only nappy absorbant enough for my heavy wetter dd. HTH

They make a fantastic day nappy - certainly one of the best!

I used them at night when DD was about 8 months old and they were fine but I boosted them with a hemp booster as she was still having midnight milk feeds at the time!

BBM - ds has a feed at 11 and comes into bed with me at about 4 and nurses for about an hour from 6 (so still has a LOT of milk in the night, is what i'm saying ) and the Bumbles still don't leak!

Unlike farking Pampers! Grr...

MrsBadger · 05/06/2008 21:21

excellent
we use them for night (still on size 1 Bimbles for day) boosted with whatever falls out the drawer (hemp, shaped terry, the cotton inner from one of those weird Disana ones, or some MEOS liners I got cheap in a sale and make v good boosters)
well made, quick to dry and fleece next to the skin so they stay dry and don't get crunchy in hard water.

MrsB - mine got terribly crunchy until I got a tumbledryer! My friend suggested i put vinegar in the wash but it didn't seem to work, should i have tried anything else?

MrsBadger · 05/06/2008 21:29

what I meant was however crunchy the cotton bit gets, the fleece next to the baby's skin stays relatively soft

I have some that are on their third (I think) baby and though the outer is pretty rough the inner is fine.

washing with soap nuts really helps if you have hard water and doesn't affect absorbancy of nappy. I used bumbles in the days before bamboo nappies - only 3 years ago that is!

roomforthree · 05/06/2008 21:43

Another vote for bumbles. I use them with wool, and have had no leaks at all.

rowrowrowyourboat · 05/06/2008 22:17

Thanks for your swift responses.

I have bamboo nappies for day time and our very hard water was one of the reasons for that choice.

I now have to decide whether to just get one of the bumbles to try or commit to several.

rowrowrow - where in the country are you?

rowrowrowyourboat · 05/06/2008 22:22

Berkshire, our local water can write-off a boiler in two years if you get the wrong sort

I am in South Bucks and would lend you one if you wanted to try it...?

rowrowrowyourboat · 05/06/2008 22:46

Thank-you for the offer that's really kind. It's difficult with nappies as there are very few places where you can go and look.

I off to bed but I'll be back tomorrow, thanks again for your help.

You'll get lots of responses when asking about Bimbles/bumbles because they are getting a huge following

I'm in S Oxon and would be happy to lend a Bumble for you to try if you like (will send soft new one, not crunchy old one ). I might even have a pink one...

rowrowrowyourboat · 06/06/2008 10:24

AAHHHHHH! Just when I thiught I'd got it cracked. Another idea.

The only thing against the bamboo ones is the drying time, we do keep terries as back-up for when the others don't dry, but really don't want to have to do that for night nappies, my folding isn't that good.

I think I'm going to have to just made a decision and go for it as DD is wet more mornings than not now. Thank-you to those who offered to lead nappies though.

I'm thinking of getting 4 so 2 in the wash and 2 to wear.
