We've given him Calpol and ibruprufen, not touching it at all. He's just screaming and screaming we're really stumped as to what we do. Do we take him anywhere or is there something we can give him?????

When he wakes, you can also try some warm boiled water and tip in in to his ear, pull the lobe down and wiggle it about (if he can tolerate this and then tip his head to let it drain out - and repeat!!

I suggest medised instead of calpol. Nothing to do with the fact that that medised is a seditive, but the decongestant affect would help fluid drain from the ear down the eustation tubes.

I don't mean to offend Thankyouandgoodnight suggestion but I think warm boiled water is a bad idea.

It sounds like as if your child is at risk of a perforated ear drum. You don't want to risk water in your child's middle ear.

The only suggestion i can add to to alternate the calpol and ibprofen, ie calpol at 12, ibuprofen at 2, calpol at 4, ibuprofen at 6 and so on. That way you don't shorten the interval between doses, or have too many doses, but reduce the risk of there being a painful half hour when the painkillers are beginning to wear off.
