Worried sick

Hi my daughter had a fever and a rash 6 days ago so I called nhs 24 and they said since her high temperature had gone down and she is eating and drinking then she will be fine. Her rash has turned into dried up spots that feel rough like they’re possibly going away. I noticed she has some tiny dots on her skin now behind her upper arm near her armpit and on her tummy. I’m worried sick and can’t sleep. I will take her to the emergency room in the morning as she and my family are all sleeping it’s currently 3am and i can’t sleep with worry.

Also those tiny dots don’t fade but the spots from the rash do. I’m just worried because they don’t fade then they must be penechiae

Worry about a child’s health, in the middle of the night, on your own, is awful. You poor thing. What are her symptoms now and what is it that you’re most concerned about?

Eatinghurts · 18/10/2025 04:55

What is her temperature did she seem ok yesterday? What isleading you to worry.

I wouldn’t go to A&E for that. It’s hard worrying in the night, things will seem clearer in the morning but honestly that is barely a rash.

Hi I’ve seen on google and TikTok that the tiny dots on skin can be petechiae which is lukemia so I’m worried about that.

She hasn’t had a temperature since 6 days ago she just has the spots that are rough and scabby I think because they’re going away. I’m worried about the other tiny dots spots I’ve found which are in the photos incase they’re petechiae which is lukemia.

My son had very similar symptoms last week. His rash appeared Tuesday night and is now fading but he still has a few odd spots. The rash was worst on his chest, around pelvic area and under arms . His temperature was high Tuesday night but normalised on Wednesday. I think it was just a virus, possibly hand, foot and mouth. He did complain of mouth pain on Tuesday but is eating normally again now and is back to running around again.

How is your daughter feeling, is her energy improving? I think from your description it is most likely just to be just a virus.

Are you in US or UK? Just confused as you mentioned NHS 24, but also the ‘emergency room’, which is a US term.

I found this OP which might be helpful:

Enteroviruses (like hand foot and mouth), can sometimes cause mild irritation of small blood vessels in the skin, especially as the rash is healing.

It’s not unusual to see tiny red or purple dots (sometimes petechiae or pinpoint marks) appear as the main rash fades.

These can occur where the skin was most inflamed or rubbed (hands, feet, mouth area, or even limbs).

If the child is otherwise well, active, eating, and afebrile, it’s usually just part of the skin recovery process.

Even though this sounds mild, petechiae always warrant a quick check if:

New spots appear suddenly or increase in number

They are widespread or not limited to areas of rash or friction

The child becomes unwell, drowsy, irritable, pale, or develops a new fever

In those cases, you’d want to have them seen urgently (same day) to rule out rarer but serious causes like meningococcal infection.

My daughter also had a rash in the same places. Sounds exactly the same she has one spot under her mouth so could be hand foot and mouth although she had no rash or spots on her hands or feet. I hope your boy is doing better now.

my daughter is absolutely fine now and back to herself. I’ve just checked the spots and they’re nearly gone as they’re faded but it’s just the little pin dot things I’m worried about as they’re don’t fade.

I’m in the uk I don’t know why I wrote emergency room instead of nhs 24.

Thankyou so much for this information it has helped put my mind at ease. I will call nhs 24 just to make sure my daughter is ok and so I stop worrying also, you helped me sleep a bit better for an hour or two so thankyou

Just an update. We just got back from hospital and the doctor/kids nurse has said my daughter is absolutely fine and the little dots under my daughters skin are on each armpit so could be to do with someone picking her up ect. I have just to keep and eye on her and if any more dots appear other than that she said my daughter is a healthy happy child and she has no worry’s about her. I just hope no more dots appear. I worry so much all the time lol. I’m just so glad my daughter is ok ❤️ she’s been running and playing the whole day and picked a new toy in the toy shop. She’s so happy and eating drinking fine. ❤️

thanks to everyone for advice and support it means the world and helped so much.
