Naps

DD is 16m. She was EBF until a couple of weeks ago when we weaned her, and she always fed to sleep.

Since I stopped BF she has been going to sleep fine on a night. But I’m struggling with naps a bit.

I just don’t know how to get her to sleep. I have no other experience with babies, what I do at bedtime doesn’t work the same - at bedtime she will put her head on my shoulder, I’ll pat her and sing to her and she goes down pretty quickly but she fights her daytime nap more.

How do I figure out what works for her, or when she should go down? We’ve been to a playgroup this morning and she should be tired out, we were watching something on the TV together and she was getting snuggly and I thought she was sleepy but I brought her upstairs to nap and she just fought me and cried.

What is your routine at nap time? Do you go by set times during the day or see when your baby seems tired?

Mine is the same age and naps 12.30-2 most days. Normally they can't keep awake! I put them in their cot in their sleeping bag (if cold), read one story, give them their teddy, rub their back a bit and they drop off within a minute or two of me closing the door.

My daughter is same age. She wakes up about half 6 and naps 10-1130 ish. Shes usually shattered and has a snack, bum change then just goes in her cot with her tonie box on

Tou might have to do this OP. Sone DC jist dont like to nap where they sleep at night. You could try a toddler bed and keep her in the cot at night, a single bed wirh a guard or use the pushchair or car but it doesn’t sound as though she wants to nap in the cot anymore.

I gave up with enforced/scheduled naps once I stopped breastfeeding for the same reason.

If we were at home I'd always try her with a bottle of milk in her cot at about 12pm (she was waking around 6am) or I'd organise the day so that there would be a decent stint in the car /pram when she would be tired, usually when I went to pick up DC1 from preschool.

If it didn't work then I'd just do an early bedtime.
