Ds dry/clean during the day since 2.3. Is now 2.6 and we're having a recurring problem with night time / nap time nappies. He will often poo during his nap, or first thing in the morning, and then puts his hands all in it! (I licked my fingers mummy, it was a bit minty!!!!) Bleeeuuuch!!!!! Then in attempt to wipe hands gets it all over bed, pjs etc. Doesn't do it every time, it's a bit intermittent, and I just don't know how to handle it. Is it just natural curiosity, and I should just ignore? Don't want to overreact and cause him a problem with pooing (think he tends to 'save' it sometimes for his nappy as can be a bit reluctant to poo on toilet). have tried talking to him about it/reasoning it out, coz he is a pretty bright boy in lots of other ways, but then, hey ho, in a few days, off we go again. Please tell me I'm not the only mum to have such a revolting little tyke?

What about poppered vests or all in ones so he can't get his hands in?

good idea, but he's in 3-4 pjs, not sure if I could get all in ones in that size. He's a big brute, and poppers would present no problem whatsoever!!!! but thanks for the idea, I'd posted this on behave/dev and not a sausage; was beginning to feel a bit of a social outcast!

H&M do big sizes in poppered stuff - DD has some 3-4 all-in-ones for bed. If he's really determined, you could put them on backwards!
And for all that you don't want to give him a complex and so on, it can't be fun dealing with poo everywhere at 7am...
Perhaps rewards for leaving his nappy for you alone to deal with (or Daddy obviously!) might achieve something?
