I remember with DD that there were lots of up the back and out the side poos and wees and I was just wondering if there are any brands out there that are fairly bomb proof....??

sainsbo are rubbish for newborn poo avoid at all costs!

That's very helpful - yes please to telling me about brands that are NOT good too!Incidently, Hugggies were the ones we used with DD and they were as effective as using a piece of bog roll lightly draped.

I tried Tescos and Pampers with DD1 and neither could contain the poo explosions of a BF newborn. They would go up her back too. So I just used the cheaper Tescos and did lots of laundry (and so did my Mum - thank you Mum ).

Tesco are good

BlueDragonfly · 04/06/2008 14:07

can't rememeber what they good ones are! I think up-the-back-and-over-the-shoulder-poo is par for the course with newborns. as long as there is no side seepage i am happy (doens't take much does it!)

purpleflower · 04/06/2008 14:12

Tesco were just as good as pampers. Neither controlled it perfectly but there wasn't a big difference apart from the price

scorpio1 · 04/06/2008 14:13

Pampers rae the only ones that work here. last night dh put a tesco one on her and i woke up at 5am with a soaking wet baby.

Iklboo · 04/06/2008 14:18

Only pampers work with DS. They even withstand his "day after eating his own weight in grapes & plums" poo

MrsBadger · 04/06/2008 14:20

not on a newborn
they are all a funny size/shape with skinny legs and fat tum, or fat legs and skinny tum, or fat all over, or thin all over.

everything leaks for about 2 wks till they're a decent shape.

I presume your DS isn't a newborn if he's eating plums and grapes

i used asda's own when ds was born these were good up until number 4 then we moved onto costco own but when we got to 5 + huggies was the only one to work all through the night no leaks

pampers for the day huggies for a night now

AlienSwampMonster · 04/06/2008 14:52

DS1 could poo out of ANY nappy (skinny little leggies). DS2 never did even once!

jamila169 · 04/06/2008 14:55

All mine did fine with huggies in the early days as they have no bums! pampers i think would be better for the more rounded of buttock.
asda eco ones are a good slim fit as well

choufleur · 07/06/2008 19:16

aldi's were as good as pampers (and about half the price)

SIOBHANB2008 · 17/06/2008 14:35

my auntie found all the brands to be rubbish except boots own brand. . once used these there were no more explosions!

BigBadMouse · 17/06/2008 15:25

Boots own used to be very good, I used them for DD1 but just tried them for DS1 (3wo) for night time and had disastrous results as they have since changed them a lot (I had some saved up from last time and they were great while they lasted).

In fact I have had disastrous leakage results with everything other than cloth, and nothing is absorbant enough to go for more than a few hours. My washing machine is suffering badly as a result! Next move is disposable plus a motherease wrap......

Lovage · 17/06/2008 20:07

I used to put DS in a disposable (Tesco's cheapy) with a wrap over the top overnight when he was a baby. That seemed to stop the explosions

liath · 17/06/2008 20:09

They are all crap.

Go cloth ! I could count on one hand the number of leaks with 2 children.
