I've looked into about 10 but because I only want a few days a week only 3 actually worked/ had space and one of those I didn't like. So now down to two:

Nursery One: Big chain Nursery with 4 rooms. More bells and whistles like an app. It seemed fine but I didn't love it.

Nursery Two: Small independent nursery with two rooms, feels more holistic and family style. Just opened. I got a better vibe from it. My only slight worry if what if it suddenly closes or they have major staffing issues?

Nursery Two would be about 50 quid more a week and we could afford it but it would be more of a stretch.

DD would be there from 12 months until around 2/ 2 and a bit as she can attend a more local preschool.

Any thoughts? I kind of feel like I should go with my gut but it's a reasonable amount of money to pay extra just on vibes.

How far away are they/ how do the hours compare/ are they open 52 weeks/year?
What is the food like? Is that definitely the price difference taking into account funded hours and any sundry costs? (Unless it breaks your bank £50 more is a bargain for somewhere you love).
Who owns the new smaller place?

Is there a difference in travel to get there from home? We chose mainly based on the time to walk there and back, and also as the closest one, we knew most of the kids would live in our area and go to the primary school in that area. Ours is small and independent. I would do a proper check on what the fees include in terms of meals, nappies etc. And if they have any closure periods, most close between Christmas and NY, but I've heard of others closing for another week in the summer.

Thanks for replies- they are both the same travel time. I would have to drop her on the way to work which has also restricted my choice. I actually only need term time but nowhere around here offers it! I've run the fees including all the extras and it's because they apply the 30 hours funding in different ways.

I really initially wanted a childminder but after asking a load I couldn't find one that did a Friday!
