Uncombable hair syndrome or overthinking it??

DS2 was born with a full head of black hair. It was wild from the minute he was born, stood up straight in every direction around his head. He's 6 months now, he lost all of his dark hair and it's been replaced by a very light blonde, almost silvery hair. That still stands up straight like he's been electrocuted!!! First off, I don't know where the light colour is from, me and the donor are both dark 😅 second, could this be uncombable hair syndrome? My DW thinks I'm being completely over the top but his hair is wild. It looks even funnier in real life haha. We think it's cool but is it something I need to get checked with GP? Or maybe wait and see how it continues growing? Anyone else's baby have sticky up hair like this??? Tell me they grew out of it please 🤣
Nothing I do makes it stay flat! I've never seen hair like it before. You can see his scalp through the strands it's that light and fluffy

Just to try and show how light it is.

My daughters hair was like that, she was born looking like a troll doll 🤣

Eventually it collapsed under its own weight and by the time she was 2-ish it was down to her shoulders.

Uncombable hair syndrome is extremely rare. My eldest son had what I called "hedgehog hair" when he was a small baby as it stuck up whatever I did with it and your son's hair looks similar. My son still has high maintenance hair, but I wouldn't describe it as uncombable.

I had hair like that as a baby, so did my daughter!
I thought it was very cute! And around age 1.5 her hair flattened. I missed her little spikey hair!

@AmyDuPlantier this is my worry, he's a boy so I'm (presuming and stereotyping), that he'll have short hair 🤣 he would look great as a teenager with his mane haha

@Iwanttobreakfree2 I love that, hedgehog hair, so cute!
I know it's extremely rare, that's that's I'm 99.99% sure I'm overthinking 🤣

I think you are overthinking it, baby hair is very often fine and sticking up. It will probably darken a lot over the next few years.

@Treeleaf11 I've never seen a baby with this type of hair before! None of my family or friends babies look like this. All very new to me. My oldest DS hair wasn't like this either. Amazing how they're all so different x

Does it feel wiry? I’d wait until there’s a bit more weight and thickness to it, and if it’s still doing it you can revisit the idea, but try not to worry for now. I know thinking to the future you’re saying about him having short hair and that not being ideal, but at least he’s got the option to shave it off if that was his preference too.
I think it looks cute now anyway
and at least if he does have it. It usually settles down by teen years and there are no other symptoms I don’t think?

@Prinysoup each section of his head feels a bit different which is what made me think it's more than just "baby hair". Some of it is wiry, some feels thick like straw, some of it is softer than a cloud. Very bizarre.
I don't think there are any other symptoms, I've been having a read about it. My only concern was the mental health effect on the teens, they really struggle with their looks. Thankfully yes he's a boy so he can always keep it super short, but we shaved it last week (not a 0, just a 2) to try and even it all out and he looks like a broomstick 🤦🏻‍♀️ hopefully it should thicken up with age and look a bit better.

The human body carries very small light forms of electric. This may be something common, i dont think it is a big issue. As he grows older he will be sustained.
