Allergens and weaning

Probably a dumb question about allergens and weaning but here goes. I know that early exposure to allergens is protective against developing an allergy, and that once you’ve exposed them to an allergen that repeated exposure is important. I think each nut is its own allergen, which is why people can be allergic to cashews but not pecans and I eat a wide range of nuts fairly often so as long as he doesn’t show up anything in an initial exposure that should be easy to do. But is each fish an allergen or is fish as a group an allergen? If he has cod does that cover salmon and mackerel etc? I’m vegetarian so he probably won’t have more than one fish meal every week or two and I don’t know how I’d keep up with needing to balance haddock, sea bass, tuna above just fish. I’ve never heard anyone say they’re just allergic to sole, but then I don’t know many people with fish allergies.

Unless you have allergies in your family just crack in with weaning. Baby can eat anything you can from 6 months except whole nuts and honey.

if you have allergies amongst
close family members then consult with your GP for the latest advice

For common allergens like varieties of nut etc it's definitely worth doing all of them, but then for proteins I'd focus on shellfish and add in meat and fish whenever you remember. Also be aware it's usually on the second exposure you might get a reaction as the body has been "primed" if you like the first time, so just add in new foods at breakfast or lunch so you have time to see if they react as the day goes on.

My son has a few allergies , celery being one. If you’re worried about introducing them . Use the above and do one at a time.

I assume your understanding of fish has the same constructs as the understanding of nuts. Every fish is different, this is what i believe but you might need to ask the doctor for a second opinion.
