What age group is diggerland aimed at? I'm really not clued up and looking for ideas for my son's next birthday celebration which will be in Feb.

Is feb a terrible idea in case of rain!

Ask him and see whether he’d want to go
Id say 8 is a pretty good age - but there are hight limits

My 9 year old just had a brilliant time there - and plenty adults enjoying it too!

So is this

  • Where can we go for a somewhat different party?
or is it
  • My son is really interested in diggers and how they work, would he find this interesting?

I went with my son when he was almost 3 and a half, suggested by a friend whose son was almost 4. I'd say neither child was especially digger mad and they both had fun but were verging on too old then! They were still young enough the enjoy if it for the "big things" and things that did something when you pushed buttons or "riding a tractor/JCB/Big digger" for the "wow look it's a ...!" Older than this and they really wouldn't have been and would probably been unimpressed!

However, if your kid and any friends you are taking, are actually interested in diggers and machinery from an older standpoint, then they might love it. Like they think they might want to be builders (maybe) and actually want to know how things work, see and test out how to drive different types of machine, or why learn you might use that machine, not this one, for that job, then I think they might find the whole thing pretty interesting!

My son went at 4 and despite being tall, definitely want too old for him. We I te def to take him back a few years later but covid hit and by the time we got out of all the restrictions, he’d grown out of it.

What did he love? What type of boy is he roughly? Mine is dinosaur and Minecraft mad these days, used to be obsessed with diggers and vehicles etc when smaller.

diggerland looks fun? Lots of mini cars etc to ride on.

I probably need to do some more research

She loved having a go on all the machinery and drove a police car all by herself!

She loves Minecraft and Frozen and being very physical.

Diggerland is great and definitely not too young for an 8 year old. Mine is turning 8 this year and thinking about many of the rides at ours, they would still be too ‘big’ for him or would need a grown up to go on.

I think there are 2 challenges though: at 8, most parties are drop and run. You will need parents to hang around for this one as you won’t be able to supervise 20 kids driving all sorts of heavy machinery. Will parents do that?

If it rains, are you happy the indoor play area will keep them occupied for a couple hours? Our local one, the indoor area would definitely be a bit baby ish for 8 year olds. It’s more for 2-5 year olds.

I also have 2 February birthdays. I’ve never been able to do anything outdoors for them. Always cold and raining here. 😩
