If your baby didnt want to sleep in the cot at night, when did it get better?

My son is 8 weeks old today - I know he is VERY TINY still so I am just asking for future reference. If I let him sleep in our bed he is already doing 7 hour stretch I know I am very lucky. But as soon as I put him in the next to me crib he will wake up quickly crying and its a constant battle where I put him down, he wakes up and I bring him into our bed for some sleep... I begin to think this battle is pointless at this age? When does yours start accepting the cot if they refused at first? Should we just let him sleep with us and start training a bit later?

Thanks for your advice!

Probably not what you want to hear, but 20 months ... !

She actually never slept a night in her cot, shared with me and went into a toddler bed when we moved house and started sleeping through within the week

We’re still co-sleeping at one year. It’s entirely normal, entirely natural, and I’m forever grateful I don’t have to be up and down out of my bed all night long.

The sleep training industry is a massive con, full of charlatans, designed solely to part parents with their money.

PS seven hours in one go is INCREDIBLE!

One at 11, one at 22 months. To be fair with the second we didn’t even get the cot out of the attic. Most people do safe cosleeping at some point if not throughout; babies show you their preferences quite clearly.
They are fairly malleable for a couple of years though, you can change your approach quite easily whenever you want and have it stick after a day or two of disruption.

(We had 8 hour stretches at 8 weeks with no. 1 but it was very temporary, make the most of it!)

2 lol! Slept in their cot or moses basket until 6 months and then we started co sleeping as sleep was very tough. Dont regret a minute of it though, was the best experience and I will always treasure those nights (not for everyone though).

14 months and still not sleeping through the night. Well, he does actually, as long as he's not teething or sick but from 6/7 months they're constantly going through one or the other. I'm on week 4 or brutal sleep deprivation (molar, flu, ear infection, another molar now).
