ds was dry at night for a week - now wet bed 4 nights in a row - advice?

ds (3.0) has been dry in the day for ages and had been calling out in night to be helped to potty, nappy dry in morning. he announced he was going to stop wearing night time nappies and we went with it, reminding him to ask to go on potty if he woke up and needed to go, which he mostly did once a night.

this worked brilliantly for about a week, but now he's had 4 nights in a row of waking up wet. he seems to have stopped waking up with the urge to go...

he doesn't seem that bothered (sometimes has been sleeping in wet bed for ages!) but we're getting a bit tired of all the washing!! should we just grin and bear it? any suggestions? thanks!

Stick with it.
When ds2 had little phases of bedwetting, after 2 nights we would say 'oh you need to go back in a nappy at night like your little brother' and he would be dry again for ages.
We do 'lift' him on to the loo at 11.30 when we go to bed, if we don't do this he often wets the bed. We find it hard to restrict his evening liquids as ds2 still has a bottle for now.

If you put your ds back in a nappy at night he will wet the nappy, then you have to start over again at some point.

DS1 also is capable of sleeping in a wet bed till we wake him in the morning!

smaller drinks before bedtime; but also agree with flib - threaten him with having to wear a baby's nappy again. I also remind my ds every night that if he needs a wee he has to go to the toilet.

stick with it - DS1 used to go for a few nights dry then a few nights wet and then dry again - gradually over time the dry nights increased and the wet ones got less.

the warning re little brother's nappies is a good idea - i can see that working! dp did 'lift' him onto the potty last night but the poor lad was so upset at being woken.... poor ds, he does like his kip!!

Oh this thread is making me feel like an expert on night training

Disclaimer - I have only sucessfully potty trained DS1. Please look out for me in the coming years on threads pleading for help to train my 4,5,6 year old ds2

On the night waking, he is sort of used to it now and doesn't make a fuss. The first few times he used to cry and scream, wake his brother up... you can imagine. We don't put the landing or bathroom lights on, just our bedroom light so its all practically dark which seems to wake him up less.

If we ask him about it during the day he has no idea what we are talking about so I don't think he actually wakes up!

yes flibbertyjibbet ds1 said that he dreamt dp came and put him on the potty... not a patch on previous dreams which include dp driving a tractor, and a nightmare involving a teapot
