4m sleep regression

My second baby is 14 weeks and has been a dream sleeper, till last night….
my first kid was not a good sleeper but tbh I struggle to remember what we did or didn’t do I just know he didn’t sleep through the night reliably till 18m. We didn’t sleep train.

anyway, back to Baby 2 - since 7 weeks he has been falling asleep around 7, feed around 10, asleep till 7am with some dummy resettles in the night but he’s never fully woken up. He does contact or pram nap in the day tho so I know I need to work on that aspect. My first also contact napped till 7m so I would like him napping in a cot soon-ish.

then last night was hell - asleep for 7.15, fed at 10.15, eyes flew open at 2am and the dummy wasn’t working, so I fed him. He fell back asleep but the feed may have caused more issues as he then woke every hour with what seemed to be wind / reflux and then when we got up in the morning he barely touched his morning milk, so I don’t think he needed the feeding in the night but I just panicked 🤣

it may be the regression it may not be - since my first wasn’t a great sleeper do I need to work on self settling now or will he revert back to how he used to sleep without my help in a few weeks and then we work on self settling?

do I just ride this out?

baby is formula fed

At only 14 weeks, he almost certainly needs a feed still during the night. To me, he sounds like he’s coming down with something. I would just keep doing what you’re doing. Very normal for sleep to go tits up around this time. I wouldn’t get hung up on self settling and all that. It will come, but it’s way too soon. If he wakes, I’d feed him and try to get back to sleep. It will certainly be easier than withholding food, so I’d do the thing most likely to get everyone back to sleep faster. Sometimes they just need you.

Sleep goes up and down in the first 18m -2 years. You've been lucky so far so she's probably a good sleeper and it was just a glitch/regression, which you will get periodically, and she'll go back to being a good sleeper.

In terms of naps, I found the morning one was the easiest one to settle in the crib. Start with that.
