My ds is 2 and a half and isn't into anything yet. Any time I try and put something on like Paw Patrol or Bluey he isn't interested

DS started liking Bluey at around then, I think. He only really became Paw Patrol mad at around 3, because they talked about it at nursery. He now likes Paw Patrol clothing and toys, presumably because of pre-school, but never actually watches it.

They're all different, though. Some kids don't ever love characters, some get obsessed with some, you can never really predict it!

DS loves Lightning McQueen above all else, which was unexpected!

Between 2 and 3 here, for us it was Fireman Sam.

Peppa obsession started around 18 months and still going (nearly 3). Circa 2.5 started loving Bluey related things because of similar circumstances described by PP - kids speaking about it at nursery/seeing clothing with Bluey on, although DC doesn’t actually watch Bluey.

I should add the peppa obsession started with books. Didn’t watch peppa until 2.5! Is a big fan now though :)

Love it. A parent actively trying to get their 2 year old into screen time. While the rest of us are doing our best to keep them away from it 😂 you do you, OP.

None of my ds really got into particular characters. As toddlers Ds1 loved the film Monsters Inc, ds2 would turn off the TV if it was on but loved the Postman Pat van and character set, ds3 loved the 1980’s transformers series and Harry Potter. Considering ds1 and ds2 are autistic, TV characters have never been a special interest.

He liked Ms Rachel between 1-2 but only because that’s all he had watched. He started liking Paw Patrol at 2. He’s not really into anything else.

Paw Patrol is utter shite. Bluey is ok.

NJLX2021 · 20/09/2025 06:53

A little paw patrol at that age, but not really 'into' it. 3-3.5 is when he started to get properly into things.. Pixar cars, hotwheels.

Be glad if it doesn't start so young. Once it does, you'll never hear the end of what they are into at that moment

Why are you trying to get him interested in these things? Just leave him to it. My son started being interested in Paw Patrol when he started nursery at 3 because other children talk about it and play games about the characters. I don’t put the show on at home but I don’t want him to miss out on the fun so he has one of each of the pups and their vehicles and he listens to the paw patrol stories on his Yoto player. I would hate for him not to be able to join in the games and not understand what all the kids are talking about.

I can’t stand Bluey so I don’t put it on. He mostly likes Thomas the Tank engine and Paw Patrol despite not watching the programme.

So much shade. Nothing wrong with a bit of screen time. About 2.5-3ish. Then it's all they bang on about and then you can only clothe them in the horrible character clothing. So male the most of it while it's lasts 😂

I agree. We love a bit of telly. But if my child wasn’t fussed (and he also wasn’t until about 3) I wouldn’t seek it out or worry about when it will happen.

3-4 peak paw patrol but I wouldn't really encourage it if you can get away with it!

Don’t think you’re the target market for Paw Payrol, but many kids do like it.

Mine both did like Paw Patrol but then preferred PJ Masks afterwards. I think it was Peppa and Nightgarden (they’re 11 and 8 so Bluey mostly bypassed us)
