How often do you bath your 2y old?

Google says:

You generally do not need to bathe a two-year-old every day; two to three times a week is usually sufficient, but you should bathe them more often if they have a particularly messy or dirty day, such as from playing in the mud or having an accident. Bathe them after activities like swimming or playing outside and consider a quick sponge bath for their face, hands, and bottom on other days to keep them clean without drying out their delicate skin.

Every day, it’s just part of the bedtime routine. She enjoys it and it relaxes her. I don’t think she’s necessarily dirty though so it isn’t needed for reasons of cleanliness.

Weirdly exactly as Google says 😂

TheChosenTwo · 13/09/2025 19:58

mine aren’t 2 anymore but at that age they had daily baths just as part of the winding down routine.

walkingismedicine · 13/09/2025 19:59

Generally every other evening

DandelionPockets · 13/09/2025 20:01

Every day - a good part of our routine to get him upstairs after dinner and into clean clothes for bed time.

I would definitely do it on a nursery day fwiw.

BusWankers · 13/09/2025 20:02

2-3 times a week usually.

She is 5 now and still has same amount.

Idontknownowwhat · 13/09/2025 20:03

How are people managing this?
Granted I've got boys (and they seem a whole different world to my daughter at a similar age!)
Most nights, and a few other baths in the days. They're so messy when they play and eat I often go, ah fuck it. Its bathtime then!

Magenta82 · 13/09/2025 20:09

Every night pretty much, it's dinner, bath, story bed, the routine is helpful.

SillyNavySnail · 13/09/2025 20:10

2 or 3 times a week max. From newborn to pre schoolers. Some extra quick showers during potty training

Thunderclapped · 13/09/2025 20:14

This is a while back but we were very lazy with baths. My son had eczema and our very sensible doctor said kids don’t really get that dirty. We made sure faces and hands were clean and probably did a bath twice a week. The worst thing was suncream where we felt a daily bath was needed.

The doctor was very much of the opinion that children are over bathed these days!

Ditto!

didgeridid · 13/09/2025 20:24

We have a 7 year old and an 18 month old. Both have had baths everyday since birth. It's part of bed time routine. Sometimes with bubbles and wet use soap of they are grubby but generally just water

Because how dirty are their arms, legs backs etc really?

BeCalmNavyDreamer · 13/09/2025 20:30

Once a week. We wash her hands, face all the time because she gets messy/goes toilet/had amealand genitals daily.
She has eczema so it's best not to do more but doubt I would bother with more even if she didn't.

Loveshine · 13/09/2025 20:31

My DD finds baths and showers quite stressful. My mum always advocated them as part of a wind down routine but that just didn't work with our DD. We usually do one three to four times a week depending on nursery and swimming lessons. Summer is hard work as she needs one after suncream. She's very nearly 4 and they're still hard work, same for doing her teeth but they're mandatory.

Getwithus · 13/09/2025 20:31

Twice a week. Would be happy to do it more but she just runs off and wants to play elsewhere. She doesn't really get too dirty or smelly or have any skin issues. Potty trained and never has accidents.

mynameiscalypso · 13/09/2025 20:40

When DS was 2, we generally did twice a week because of his eczema.

JuniperAndTonic · 13/09/2025 20:41

Usually on Wednesday and Sunday so twice a week. Sometimes in between if she’s got particularly messy or has had a toilet accident. Also tend to bathe her more in the summer to wash off suncream. Wipe her bum with a flannel/wipe every night and wipe in the morning (she’s toilet trained but has a pull up on at night) and face wipe with a flannel after meals. I don’t think she needs a bath more often than this, she doesn’t get smelly and her hair doesn’t get greasy 🤷🏼‍♀️

Glitchymn1 · 13/09/2025 20:42

At the time, daily.

PurpleChrayn · 14/09/2025 03:52

Every day! Two times a week and he’d be a sticky, stinky nightmare.

proname · 14/09/2025 04:44

my DCs are teenagers now but bathtime was more about sharing a fun and tender moment than just hygiene. Most kids love playing in water, sometimes with siblings. I also felt a warm
bath would help signal downtime and it was an integral part of our routine: dinner, bath, story, bed.

Do you enjoy giving them bath time? If you have a DP maybe they do too? Don’t worry about Google and do what is right for you and your DCs

Athreedoorwardrobe · 14/09/2025 04:47

As routine then once a week.. however it works out being a few times a week as she gets dirty!

Avie29 · 15/09/2025 06:58

Everyday, we do dinner, bath- she also brushes her teeth in the bath, massage, book (or bookS lol) and bed, i don’t wash her hair everyday though thats generally every other day unless she gets food or at the moment snot (she has a cold) in her hair lol xx
