Carpal tunnel syndrome from holding baby?

Has anyone developed carpal tunnel syndrome from carrying their baby? Did it go on its own?
im going to book a doctors appointment but I’m pretty sure that it’s what I have.
my wrist and thumb area is really painful and sore and I’ve been getting pins and needles in my hand too. I have a 4 month old baby and she is really heavy! I’m sure I’ve got it from carrying her x

I had it with my first, in both thumb/wrists. It did eventually get better, I used wrist wraps and got into a habit of lifting her differently - not putting my thumb under her armpits, but instead cupping one arm around her waist and keeping my palm flat. It took about a month to get better though

I got carpal tunnel from breastfeeding and the weight of baby’s head on my elbow. After physio which was useless, I fixed it by using pillows to support the baby’s head and having my arms free.

When my son was around 9 months old I was diagnosed with a condition called "mummy's wrist" or De Quervain's tenosynovitis. I had thought it was carpal tunnel syndrome because my symptoms were so similar. I suffered for a few months and finally got steroid injections at my GP. The pain was gone within a few days.

It's not caused by holding the baby, it's an inflammation of tendons that join your thumb and wrist. My GP said it's caused by hormonal changes during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

I had it during pregnancy and for about 6 months after the baby was born. I wore a wrist brace and it did eventually go once I'd stopped breast feeding. Think it was hormone related.

I had De Quervain’s too
When DS was a year old I had a steroid injection, and it’s been fine since - that was 16 years ago.

De Quervain’s here also. It’s a thing. Go see your GP.

I had issues with my thumbs with my first baby - like PP I adapted how I lifted him and it went away on its own within a week.
