Babyproofing a play pen on hard floor - help!

I just moved to a new house and it has really hard, wooden floors. The playpen I have is great but the floor is so hard and I am worried my daughter will hit her head too hard if she falls.

I tried those jigsaw-piece interlocking tiles but they are also very hard. Then I tried a duvet which was a lot softer but that's not necessarily safe.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

A rug that fits inside the playpen?

You could get a couple of the foldable gymnastics mats from ikea, they are thick enough.

The foam mats are absolutely fine, they are designed for babies to play on. Something much softer might cause a trip hazard when she starts moving about.

The puzzle mats are amazing. I don't know why you think they're too hard, maybe the ones you bought are not thick enough.

They're not meant to be soft, they need to be firm enough for baby to crawl and walk.

We got a Play Factory Foldable Foam Baby Play Mat from Smyths for my grandson, easy to put away when it’s not in use
