Right, thats it - if I have to stay in for a week anyway, we're potty training !

DS, who was 2 last week has been using the potty and toilet for a couple of months when left to run round with no nappy, but we've put no effort into potty training.

This morning he blossomed forth with chicken pox, so thats us confined to the house/ not near any people for the next week, and I'll have to be off work as he can't go to nursery. So far, he's not ill, just spotty.

So, although I was going to be indolent and wait another month before getting on with potty training, I'm going to seize the moment. Today we only had one wee outside the potty or toilet from 7.30 am to 7pm, and the poo was in the potty too. No coercion or reminding necessary, but no clothing below the waist.

My question - do I leave him sans pants for another couple of days, and then add pants once he's been just using the potty/toilet in the day, or should I go and buy pants tomorrow and start as we need to go on ?

As of this afternoon, all poo in the potty, all wee (except naps when he had a nappy on) in potty also.

Tomorrow, I think its time for pants !

sorry to hijack but i know you are a baby wearer. i'm finding carrying 23 month old ds in a MT really painful atm. would a podegai be more comfy?

cmotdibbler · 01/06/2008 16:24

Painful in what way ? Shoulders/upper back/lower back ?

It could just be the way that you're tying - do you do a front cross or ruck ?

I love my pod, especially to do a high back with a himalayan, but don't think that the weight distribution is very different. I do notice the difference when I do a himalayan, rather than my usual front cross and lexi at the back, as I take more weight further up my back

i do front cross.

How about giving the himalayan a whirl ?

You'd be very welcome to borrow my pod to give it a try - as part of DHs weight loss program he's doing most of the carrying at the moment, and he'll only wear the Toddlerhawk.

can you do a himalayan on a MT? is a front cross or ruck carry more supportive do you think?

cmotdibbler · 01/06/2008 20:02

yes - bring the top straps round like a ruck, go behind, do a lexi on the bum, back round and then bring up to above your bust and thread through the opposite strap and tie so its like a sternum strap on a SSC or rucksac. It brings the top straps tighter, and transfers more load to your mid chest.

I think a front cross is much more supportive than a ruck myself - I think it stops the load hanging on your shoulders and makes it more spread out somehow
