Refusing milk

Hi,
My 11 month old is now starting to refuse her milk throughout the day. She'll happily accept in a morning and bedtime. Is this normal?

We are trying to encourage her to drink water as we don't want her to go without fluids but she's isn't really interested in that either.

What type of bottles/beakers did you find useful?
How did the transition go and how did you help them learn?

All this is new to me.
Thank you 😊
Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

I assume she is on 3 meals a day and maybe some snacks too? If so, that sounds perfectly appropriate at 11 months. By 12 months you ditch all bottles so it sounds like you're on track.

Hi, yes sorry. She's on 3 meals a day with some odd snacks (doesn't always eat the snacks). She's always got her little beaker when she's eating for her to sip on.

How did you tackle the throwing food on the floor part?

Doesn't sound odd at all to me.
Her tastes are changing, and she’s leading the way.

PS: there is no way of really tackling the ‘dropping food on the floor’ that is just something they all do :)

As long as she's eating solids then the 2 bottles a day is fine. With throwing food on the floor, get yourself a splash mat for under her highchair. It makes a major difference to cleanup😁

It’s hot too. They often refuse milk in the day if it’s too hot.

The health visitor told me this could happen at the 12 month check (baby often didn't finish the afternoon bottle). If you're getting dairy/calcium/healthy fats in elsewhere, why not follow their lead?
