Incredible all puking 7mth old!

Is it normal for a 7mth old to be sick repeatedly throughout the day? DS1 was never much of a puker, but DS2 does it all day (never at night).

It sounds silly, but it's getting me down- he gets through loads of clothes, the carpet needs to be shampooed as it's been vomited on so much, and i spend most of my time wearing sick.

Surely it's not right? He doesn't appear to be in pain, and he's enormous ( 21 lbs plus) so he's got no problem putting weight on. When will it stop?!

I haven't experienced this but maybe he just likes his food too much and what can't fit in comes out?

Hi Grrrl -- did you ever get him checked out for reflux? (That said, DS has almost stopped his refluxy puking since he took to solids although it can take time I hear...)

littleboyblue · 31/05/2008 11:50

My dshad really bad reflux from early age. They did say he'd grow out of it once on solids but he didn't until he hit 9 months. How long's it been going on for? Has it only recently started? If so prob not reflux as reflux is when the valve at top of stomach isn't strong enough to hold food down. He'd also be bringing up clear, acid smelling liqud and would be quite uncomfortable.
I know what you mean about it getting you down. Maybe he got viral infection or something. If he still putting on weight, shouldn't be anything serious but maybe pop to dr as you don't want him to associate eating with being sick

my son was like this till about 2! went to see a specialist in the end he said he was within the normal range but had very quick gag reflex or something. He's ok now at 4 but still sick very easily if he eats something he doesnt like etc

hi Chaotica!

I did mention the vomiting to HV, but she didn't seem concerned or mention reflux. He's not v interested in solids really, but usually pukes after them, aswell as bottles, but also after a breastfeed.

He's always been like it, and isn't uncomfortable or in pain.

My hv kept telling me not to worry, and didn't mention reflux or anything else, said i was probably over feeding and basically made me feel like shit. I've found since arrival of ds I've had to become the doctor! Anyone KWIM? I even suggested the idea of reflux to my GP after being there twice a week for about 7 weeks. She referred us to hospital and they treated him straight away for it.
It might not be reflux, ds was more content when treated for reflux but this was at same time as colic passed.
