After Suncream advice please for my 4 year old. Bought ultra sun after it being recommended on here very expensive but didn’t mind if it was good. Used it 4 or 5 times and now it won’t work because it’s a pump style lid hardly anything comes out even though it’s still full. Wouldn’t buy it again for this reason.

Seen a lot of people say boots solan is good which one is the best please? As I also read not to wear 50 as it clogs the pores so 30 is best but the kids ones only come in factor 50.

please help I’m so confused and Google isn’t any help lol

I use the spray ambre solaire one. £9 in Tesco and it doesn't stain clothes and it's easy to just spray on

Nivea Babies and Kids Sensitive spf50 is excellent and has very minimal nasties in it.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 17/08/2025 07:04

I use the Nivea spray in the blue bottle with the yellow lid. It goes on really easily and absorbs quickly, which is my best chance of my kids standing still for long enough to let me rub it in. It's seen us through the heatwave this summer without anyone getting burnt.

Piz buin allergy for us, very light and non greasy.

I agree ultrasun tops for some reason are glitching this year. I've just been popping the top off and just scooping it out. I'll stick with ultrasun because we've used it all over the world and never burnt. DC go off to summer camp for 8 hours on a 30 degree day and haven't burnt using it.

We use this for this reason too. It also doesn’t stain unlike the Lidl one that I previously used

The Boots own roll on one we had, had that chemical in it that breaks down into a carcinogen over time, I wouldn't buy Boots own again. We have the Nivea roll on one now and it doesn't have it. Otherwise Green people organic or Badger if you want to avoid all the chemicals.

We use Altruist. Very good cream which protects well, is 5* UV rating and doesn't aggregate ds eczema.

Cdoc · 17/08/2025 14:47

Another vote for Altruist, really reasonably priced and the only one that doesn’t cause an eczema flare up. My mum uses it on her face and as a rosacea sufferer says it’s the only one that doesn’t cause stinging!

halloween67 · 17/08/2025 14:50

Altruist, I buy it from Amazon it’s so reasonably priced too.

Please ignore the nonsense about SPF 50 blocking your pores

ThisUsernameIsNowTaken · 17/08/2025 14:53

Nivea 50+ is the best. Lots of different containers. I like the roll-on bottle for the face and neck and buy the normal bottle (no pump) for the rest. Never get sunburnt. Also try and use clothes though to cover up - hat and long-armed cotton tops or polos with the collar up are a good option.

mamagogo1 · 17/08/2025 14:55

Lidl! The main requirement for the lotion to be effective is to apply liberally and reapply frequently, buying supermarket own brand means you can afford to use as above. Check the star rating as well as the spf as long as both are maximum it’s as good as the brands. Obviously if you have allergies you need to watch the ingredients list but for the vast majority hit the supermarket

littlegreenmonster · 17/08/2025 15:01

We've always used superdrugs own sun cream. I won't use a spray for the same reason as you - the nozzle gets clogged & no more comes out.

Superdrugs are all 5 star for protection & have always worked well for us as a family. We have a variety of different allergies/sensitivities & none of us have reacted to it.

HostaCentral · 17/08/2025 15:02

SPF50 by it's very nature, is heavy, and it does clog your pores......

We use the Ultrasun 30, or Piz Buin 30 Sensitive. Amber Solaire Hydra 24 in 30 is also light and goes on well, no issues with allergies. Nivea a nightmare for allergies, Soltan is heavy, claggy, and hard to rub in. Ultrasun has recently changed its formula, and sadly that's now a bit claggy. We like easy to.out on creams that sink in nicely.
