Might be worth explaining what a foam party actually is? What do you get for £80?

NuffSaidSam · 13/08/2025 20:54

Agree with pp, what does it involve?

My immediate feelings is no (on the grounds it's a health and safety nightmare), but let me have some details.

Have you thought about getting a job? That’s how I saved when I was young.

I know what a foam party is when you’re on holiday somewhere hot with a pool 🤣

I’ve only been to one foam party in my life and it was a bit grim. But if the question you’re asking is, do parents want to pay someone to host a foam party for their child’s birthday party? I would imagine the answer is no.

Most parents have birthday parties at a village hall or other hired venue or at home. I wouldn’t want a foam party at my house because it would create a hell of a mess, plus it would have to be outside so weather dependent. You wouldn’t be allowed to have one in a village hall or similar. I also think that the cost of public liability insurance would be high because of risk of injuries (slips and falls) and may not cover under 18s.

On a really practical level, starting a business requires a lot of investment upfront and this one requires transport (probably a cargo van or trailer for equipment). If you need to save money, starting a business isn’t the way to do it because you will spend a lot first before you make much.

Also (and I'm not usually a pedant when it is just a chat, but) the plural of party is parties. There is no apostrophe. These things matter when you are marketing a business.

Foam parties surely would be incredibly messy at home or in a hired venue. Unless you have your own premises I don't think you'll be able to do it. £80 is incredibly cheap for a party so that makes me suspicious. I did once go to a farm park with foam parties in a large shed, with glow sticks, music and lights. Seemed to work ok for the older children. I steered my toddlers swiftly past fearing ruined clothes and overly physical big kids.

KnickerlessParsons · 13/08/2025 22:55

Is it £80 regardless of the number of children? Do you include food/organised games and prizes/anything else? How long does the party last? Do you provide the location?
And what is a foam party?

Yes I would. My child has been a guest at one that cost £300 and it was great fun. £80 would be snapped up. Follow your dreams young entrepreneur!
