Healthy snacks for picky kids ?

Hi everyone,
I’m on the hunt for some healthy snack ideas for my picky eaters aged 8 and 5. I want things that are tasty enough that they’ll actually eat, but still good for them and easy to pack for school or outings.
Do your kids have any favourite healthy snacks that are a hit, even with picky eaters?
Any suggestions for quick, low-mess, kid-approved snacks would be amazing!
Thanks in advance!

You say picky eaters - what do they like to eat?

Home made popcorn

home made pikelets and muffins. Look for recipes using yoghurt and oil rather than butter and use half whole meal flour

Fruit

Cold pasta salad - they may prefer it with no dressing

hard boiled eggs

vege sticks and dip.

They typically enjoy cookies, crisps, and cheese sticks, but I’m looking for healthier alternatives.

I have a picky 5 year old and a 2 year old who is just entering the fussy phase. They will generally both eat the following as snacks:

Plain Greek yoghurt, or as a treat they like suckies yoghurt pouches - they are sweetened with fruit sugar but not too much and there are no preservatives etc

Home made sugar free banana or carrot muffins (you can DM me for recipe if you like!)

Hard boiled eggs (sometimes they won’t eat the yolk)

Banana oat pancakes (1 mashed banana, 2 eggs, 4 spoons of oats, mix up and cook little pancakes in butter or oil)

Nut butter or cream cheese sandwich

Plain rice cakes/oat cakes/crackers with hummus

Naked bars - these are very high in sugar so we don’t have them often, but they’re only made from nuts and dried fruits

Trail mix

Big chunk of peeled cucumber

Little cubes of cheese and cherry tomatoes

As much fruit as they can get their hands on!

Cubes of cheese and apple
apple spices with peanut butter
This time of year frozen yogurt pouches
what feels like ££££££ worth of berries and watermelon
cucumber sticks
rice cakes with marmite and cream
cheese

they like all the sweet stuff too but will generally eat the healthier stuff first

I do a picky plate in the afternoon. Whatever fruit and veg we have alongside a couple of the following:

Seaweed sheets

Sushi (we just get the cucumber or avocado ones as one has a seafood allergy)

Banana or strawberry blended in milk

Sourdough bagel with cream cheese

Crackers and hummus or sliced cheese

Toast with peanut butter and sliced banana

Home made banana bread with chia jam

Olives

Hi!
For my picky eaters, I’ve found a few healthy supermarket snacks that are big hits and easy to pack for school or outings. Some favourites are:

  • Fresh fruit packs (apple slices, grapes, berries) which are sweet enough to feel like a treat.
  • Mini hummus cups with veggie sticks – surprisingly, they actually eat them!
  • Yogurt pouches – no spoon needed, just toss in the lunchbox.
  • Wholegrain crackers – A brand called foodhak makes these healthy and tasty cookies and crackers, my kids love them.
They’re all quick to grab, don’t make a mess, and keep well in a school bag.
