I’m worried about my dd11’s health.

So my dd11 gets colds quite often and she’s had verrucas for a few years now that won’t go away no matter what I’ve tried. I’m hoping her immune system is okay. I rarely get colds and have never had a verruca. Aibu?

I am not sure I see the correlation between varuccas and colds?

For the varuccas, those need to be treated with some kind of acid solution - they're usually pretty effective.

For the colds, that's a bit more difficult to assess. How bad are these colds, and how often does she have them? If she's just regularly or constantly a bit sniffly and snotty, I'd be wondering about allergies/hay fever and/or longer-term sinus issues that flare up now and again. Low level colds a few times a year - pretty normal.

If she's getting full blown colds and fever multiple times per year, I would be checking in with the doctors

I was plagued with verrucas when I was between the ages of 11 to about 14. We tried loads of treatments and they were so hard to get rid of. One day, they just went and I haven't had them since. They can be really hard to clear. Regarding the colds, is she taking a multivitamin? Good with hand washing etc. If concerned perhaps take her for a blood test just to rule anything out like vitamin deficiency that may be making her run down.

Yeah she’s taking a multivitamin.

She gets a cold around once a month.

I can’t remember the last time my 12 year old had a cold. Once a month sounds a lot to me. Maybe make an appointment with the GP?

stargazer02 · 12/08/2025 17:58

My daughter's podiatrist definitely suggested a link between hard to shift verrucae and poor health. If I remember correctly she says all the medicines do is to stimulate the immune system (well, maybe there's other benefits too, but I can't speak to those)

stargazer02 · 12/08/2025 18:02

Slightly missed the main point in my last post.

Is the cold a wipe-her-out kind of cold or just a bit sniffly?

PeonyPatch · 12/08/2025 18:04

Have they had full blood test? They might have a deficiency which is why their immune system could be compromised e.g. low iron.

MageQueen · 12/08/2025 20:52

Op your answers are ot helping. Why do you think its linked? What kind of cold are wr taking - full blown infection and masses of snot, generally a bit sniffy, sick enough to stay home?

Your details are vague.

What does Dr say?
