Baby carrier for 8 weeks old

Any suggestions for a baby carrier for my 8-week-old to use at home while doing household chores?

I'm considering the Ergobaby Embrace, but I’m a bit concerned about reviews mentioning it may only be suitable up to 12 weeks.

Also, if I start carrying my baby while doing housework, will it lead to them wanting to be carried all the time?

Any advice would be appreciated!

You should look up a sling library.
What worked well for me didn't work for a friend when she borrowed it. Carriers are all different fits and it's important to get something you find comfy to move around in and carry weight on your front in

Also, this is the Pregnancy board!
Maybe ask for your post to be moved to Parenting?

I recommend ergobaby embrace. Used it to up to approx 7 months and then moved to ergobaby Omni 360

The best thing I used was a woven wrap. They are so much more versatile than any of the carriers and can be used from birth to whenever (I used mine regularly up til about 3). A sling library will be your best bet for trying out different ones to make sure you find the right fit.

Another vote for sling library. I had a Boba woven wrap for around the house, which was lovely, and then an ergobaby omni 360 for out of house from about 3months. Both been through their second baby now.

As an aside though, forget about the chores and put your feet up! Its probably the only time in life you have a legitimate excuse.

Ergo embrace should do you till 9ish months. I think that’s how long it lastest my heavy niece and I used it for a while with my babies but swapped to others because I have them

I used an Embrace for about first 6 months - after that got a Tula Explore (both from a sling library) but didn't really use it much. Can't see why you'd need to stop using at 12 weeks! Sling libraries are great for experimenting with what sling suits you if you have one nearby.

Feel DeliciouslyBaked also has a good healthy perspective on chores though! :D

This is probably outing but my lovely DM had a frame on the wall when we wete growing up that said something like "Cleaning and dusting can wait till tomorrow, for babies grow up, we've learnt to our sorrow." Especially since having my own DC, it has very much resonated!

I completely agree with trying a sling library. I was absolutely set on an Ergobaby, but after visiting a sling library, I decided to buy a Beco Gemini Cool. Nothing wrong with Ergobaby at all- just wasn’t the right one for me.

I've used an Izmi baby carrier for both my children which has been brilliant, from newborn right up to older toddler.

Another one to recommend a sling library or if you can’t find one near you, trying on friends if they’ll let you. I used my Ergobaby 360 with both my babies (5 years apart) from birth with a newborn insert until at least 18 months old. I used it a lot in the house and on dogs walks.

I second the Izmi- felt right for my tiny baby, not too stiff or warm either as it’s very lightweight compared to a lot of carriers.

So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep!

My MIL has one like that still up!! 😄

Loved my embrace carrier so soft and comfy for them and easy to put on yourself

I would choose a different sling if I started again - I had a complicated wrap sling but the fitted ones look so much easier!
