Introducing potty 22 month old where to start

So i wanted to introduce the potty to my 22 month old but I'm not sure where to start.

I am not rushing to potty train but I think it would be a good idea to get the bits i need and sit them on it a couple of times a day to start off with.

Is this a good idea? What exactly do i need to purchase. Would prefer something on the toilet seat i think but guessing I would need an actual potty to run around with when properly training.

Anything else?

Thanks.

If you want to go straight to the toilet that's fine, just get a toilet seat and put them on it when they wake up, after meals and before bath time etc.

When you actually potty train you might want to get a potty if you don't have a downstairs toilet.

For a toilet seat or potty? Any one will do they are pretty basic products. Argos or Ikea will have options.

I don't think there's any point in introducing the potty till you're going to potty train, in case your DC gets the message that the potty is just for the odd time, rather than that the potty/toliet should be used every time.

I know all kids are different, but 22 months does seem early to start, and could be setting you all up for some stressful times, which could end up delaying toilet training.

For my DS it was a process - day time dry by about 32/34 months, pull-ups at night till about 4.

Current evidence-based practice is to start introducing the potty early before getting rid of nappies

I was wondering if there were any drawbacks but I have read the opposite elsewhere

Thanks i hope i havent missed a trick as I read 6 months and up on there! However I don't think my child would have understood anything until 18 months plus.

Introducing the potty is more about them just seeing it, and normalising it, becoming comfortable at first rather than them understanding anything.

Yes i thought it would be a good idea as the next room up from 2 years old at nursery really support with potty training so I wanted to start introducing the idea now.
