Hi. I have been wanting to potty train this week but not really got around to it! This afternoon she had her nappy off and I knew she wanted a wee and kept asking for the nappy on but I didn't put it on. She had a couple of trickles on the floor and then finally a wee on the potty, the first one. I was so pleased. Tomorrow I have to go and do the horses so what should I do in the morning? Put her in a pull up/ nappy? Leave it until we get home in the pm to try again? Or do you think it's a fluke? I did think once she wee's on there she will know what to do so don't really want to give up now.

Congratulations on the first wee wee. My DS2 is 2 and is weeing regularly on the potty. He has a pull up on most days and a proper nappy at night. I would recommend that you keep trying. With DS1 weeing was relatively quick - over 2/3 weeks but he was 2 1/2 before I started. I would recommend that you keep 'going to the loo' with her with her pull up and encourage her and reward her for wee wees. i woudl wait until the full summer though before moving her into knickers otherwise you could end up with a lot of very wet clothes.

IMO I would never go back into Pull-ups/Nappies once you've started(during the day). Not until they have some idea of what they are doing and have gained a small amount of control.

I would put them straight into knickers/pants.For the first few days at home(always helps if you can stay in for first few days if you can)I'd leave them without knickers or pants on.

I would prepare myself for lots of accidents, and lots of knicker/pant changes after the first day.I think you are expecting alot after 1 wee on the potty.

It makes it very difficult if you go out,as ideally you dont want to go "backwards" and revert to a nappy, but its likely they'll be more accidents tomorrow whilst you are out.

So I guess you have the choice "confuse" DD and put Nappy back on,or take potty and lots of changes of clothes with you......

Agree with nursejo - I did the mistake putting DD to nappies on some days and pants the others, it was all so confusing for her. I stopped doing that after a week or so and luckily it took three weeks for her to be dry all day. And yes - be ready for LOADS of wet pants/trousers
