Thumb-suckers - help!

Has anybody got any amazing unusual tips for getting a thing-sucker to stop? We have tried all the obvious things with my seven year old - horrid nail varnish (she just carries on sucking over it!), thumbsies (she takes them off when she’s sleeping). If anything, I feel like she’s got worse lately - sucking loads more in the day as well as at night - and the dentist says she must stop to avoid permanently damaging her teeth and jawline.
Help!

I can’t help I’m afraid as I’m in my mid-30s and I still suck my thumb 😅
I stopped for a few years when I was a teenager because I thought no one would fancy me if they found out. Then I started again and haven’t looked back! I was told it would affect my teeth and they are absolutely fine. Never needed braces or anything like that. So sorry to not give you the answers you want but maybe it might help to ease your mind about potential damage to teeth/jaw!
Good luck :)

Nothing worked for my DC, we tried absolutely everything including thumb guards. Eventually the orthodontist fitted a brace that had a blunt spur coming down from the roof of the mouth and physically prevented thumb sucking. I think they had it for about 8 months to completely break the habit. Then came several years of expensive braces to fix the damage (which was obvious in their case). I wish that we had gone straight to the brace at a younger age, my DC was about 9. Good luck!

I succked my thumb for years, no damage to my teetg or jaw despite the dentists many warnings. I stopped myself eventually when I was a pre-teen as I was embarrassed to be doing it at sleepovers etc. I would just leave them to stop on their own, they are old enough to know the potential consequences of braces ( i would tell them they can hurt to emphasise this point) so if it doesn't bother them I'm not sure much else will stop them!
