DD(5) hurting herself

DD is 5 years old and has started to hurt herself when she gets upset or frustrated. It will be for mainly basic frustrations like yesterday, we were trying to get ready to leave the house and there was the usual riff-raff (i have DS who has just turned 3 years old). I'm not entirely sure what happened as I was running around trying to get a bag ready when I think DC had a slight disagreement about something and DD scratched her leg and broke the skin a little. Today, when I was making lunch DD snatched a puzzle piece out of DS hand and he hit her and then in her upset state, scratched her face. As I'm typing this I see the pattern that maybe she is stopping herself from hitting her little brother? I've told her that when this kind of thing happens again to come and get me and I will sort DS out (and DS that he is not allowed to hit and to come and get me and i will sort it out so he doesn't need to hit).

For the past 6 months or so I have also noticed that if DD gets frustrated or upset with herself she will hit herself. I honestly don't know what to do, I am so upset about it. I dont know how to handle it and I don't want it to turn into a thing.

A bit of background for DD - She has always been a very sensitive and emotional child. She has come on leaps and bounds during her first year of school and her teacher says she is coming on well with no signs for concern.

Can anyone help me figure out how to handle this? Is it normal? Should I be concerned?
