Pool toys for 3.5 year old?

I wondered what would be good to take for my 3.5 year old to play with in the pool on holiday? My son isn't confident in the water but want to make it fun for him

My kids love a little watering can, little water pistols, balls, and barbies/action figures.

They are 2 and nearly 4.

I used to use these a lot. They give freedom of movement, a better body position than most swim aids which like, rings and arm bands. Plus you get to be a shark!

I put the link to this site as it has a lot of good points about the product. You can also pick them up on Amazon, Decathlon and eBay.

If you like you can go to the Swimfin website too, but I had a run in with them about a return for a Mum who bought one for her son (same reason as you - holiday). Long story short, they weren’t very nice about the return. I always buy through other stockists like SimplySwim.

Personally, I wouldn’t use these on a child at the 18 months to 2.5 years end of the spectrum without supporting the child’s head, I have seen children at the youngest end of that spectrum tip forward due to the size of the head/ body ratio.

Sorry for sound like a whinge. They are hugely fun and your son sounds like he is the right age for one.

These teach the beginnings of aquatic breathing by blowing them along.
If you look up Zoggs Seals on eBay you can find sinkies shaped like rings and sticks with seal heads and also Zoggs seals. Some of them are still available. Even if your son can’t dive to the bottom, picking them off a shallow step or ducking under, held by you and ‘yay! You got it!!!’ Kind of thing.
Get a watering can. Get Batman goggles if they are his thing or holographic monster ones. There are lots of fun kids goggles.
Jumping in is also loads of fun, equipment free and teaches confidence and immersion.

Enjoy

The goggles I mentioned:
If you aren’t averse to buying stuff second hand like my DSS…
check out Vinted and look for ‘Zogg goggles demon sea eyes’
Someone is also selling the Zoggs seals.

Having said all this plenty kids I have witnessed over the years were delighted by throwing a blow up beach ball, being spun round on a large pool mat or riding about clinging to their parents neck, while they swam breaststroke round the pool doing the Jaws theme.

I can’t remember the toys Dad took to the pool or the seaside. I just remember him playing with me that was what made swimming such a brilliant thing to do.

Oooh the goggles have gone. I have my fingers crossed maybe you saw them and liked them.
