How to bring in quiet time

Just that really. My 2 year old has almost cut out naps altogether but my 1 year old still has an hour or so and I’d love to bring in quiet time. My 2 year old has got used to normal playtime while he naps so I’ve got no idea where to start to bring it in and change things up

any advice?

No Idea why you haven’t been doing this already, but at 2 they’ll only be able to do it for a few minutes, not enough time for a coffee in peace.

Thank you ❤️ I’m a stay at home mam and my husband works 7 days a week over the summer, combined with the dropping the nap I’m finding it a difficult couple of months. Thank you x

Gosh I feel this OP, it's a really hard phase anyway with a baby and toddler. Good luck finding the quiet you need!

We don't really watch tele in the house very much but when I was in the same situation first child dropping nap and second one came along), I decided to let her watch something during baby's nap time.
I bought a bunch of classic Disney movies - Cinderella / The little mermaid etc. and we started doing that.

A nice cuddle on the sofa with a blanket, feet up and a cuppa.

I felt ok doing this and letting her watch tele / screens as we don't really do it any other time.

Gave me some chill out time and I enjoyed re-living my childhood.

Then towards the end of movie I'd set up an art activity at the kitchen table and as soon as it was over we'd move over to that and get baby up.

Ready for the afternoon of parenting!

Draw curtains and blinds. Play slow classical music. Set out a blanket innthe floor with stuffed animals and a pillow.

Or find some quiet and very slow paced videos online and play them. My DCs loved an old series of Beatrix Potrer animations and also a CD of San Diego Zoo animals with classical.nusic.
