Baby had a funny reaction to weaning

Since giving my 6 month old teether food (corn cob and mango pit) she's had multiple poos during the day and even at night, whereas before that she hadn't pooed during the night since being a newborn. I gave her a mango pip yesterday and since then she's had around 20 poos - all of which are yellow and smell like mango. She was up at 2,4,5 and 6 with a filled nappy.
I'm going to call the doctor in the morning as she seems fine otherwise, but I wondered if anyone else had experienced this? She's tried a few other things like a sweet potato which has caused a few more no 2's but nothing as bad as this.

From a dietitian here, there will be changes in bowel frequency in the first few weeks of weaning.
You have tried higher fibre foods which is the likely cause of increased frequency, not really the actual food source itself.

The doctor will rule out a gastroenteritis but at this stage I would keep doing what you are doing and things will settle down.

If your baby is getting a bit of a red bottom, I would just relax the solids for a few meals and then restart again.

Thanks for your response, thanks really helpful! Are there any safer foods I could try? I was thinking something like toast?

We have just started weaning and papaya is something that’s easy to make into nice puree :)

You could try lower fibre options at this point for a few days, yes toast (white bread) is a good option. Cereals/ bananas/ potatoes/ rice
cakes with hummus are some examples you could try (higher carbohydrates and starches, lower in fibre than f&v).
Loose stools/ constipation are quite common at the transition to weaning as the digestive tract adapts to different textures and foods of different nutritional components. As long as baby is generally well in themselves and not in any discomfort.
Also highly important that baby is well hydrated with loose stools, if any concerns do go to see the GP or A&E.
Hopefully things settle down in the next 24 hrs or so. X
