Can you baby wear too much??

Second time mum here, never really baby wore with my first despite them probably needing it (very unsettled / reflux) but now I have a toddler and a 6wk old with potential silent reflux and I’ve invested in the ergo baby embrace and he loves it when cranky ( often) so I can see him living in it till he outgrows the fussiness.

are there any long term issues with him living in a sling ? 😂 in terms of his overall development eg muscle strength, head strength, being able to walk and crawl etc?

My first was an early walker and I think a lot of that was due to not using a lot of “containers”….

My first lived in a sling as he was very fussy and clingy. He walked at 11 months and had no developmental issues. I just made sure he still had plenty of floor time whenever possible.

Essentially, no. As long as they are in a good position and facing inwards. Baby wearing counts as tummytime, they're still using lots.of muscles. Once old enough, they should only really face out for short periods of time.

DS1 was basically tied to me, or lying on me for the first few months.
He started moving at 5 months, crawled at 6, walked at 11. And was a million times happier each time he could move more!
So long as the positioning is correct, it's fine.

I carried my second in a sling a lot for the same reason - he was super clingy and I needed to crack on with stuff for my other child. He would nap for agesssss in it and I’m sure the closeness helped with him breastfeeding well too. He crawled at 6.5 months and walked at 11 months. I carried him regularly until 7 months then on and off if he was poorly until 10 months (Im only 5ft 2 so I found it a bit tougher after this!) But actually wish I’d got a proper back pack type carrier for toddler age rather than only the pushchair (which he hated)

@DongDingBell my first was the same, everytime he got a new movement he got happier and life got easier (in some ways 😅😂)

I’ve not been able to do any floor time at all in the first 6 weeks (other than on my chest or lying in the pram) because as the moment when he’s awake unless he’s being fed he is crying 😆 but we have the dreaded kicking piano play mat ready for when he can be awake without crying 😅

what age do you think floor time starts to be crucial?

My main issue was my back but beyond that go wild...
