15 month old constantly wants snacks!!

My DD 15 months has always been a pretty good eater - of course there's things she won't eat like any toddler but she generally tries most foods offered etc

In the last month or so she has become OBSESSED with snacks. We have a little lunch bag that hangs off the pram and she will frequently walk over to it and try and get into it whether at home or out. We try to keep to 2 snack times a day but she just seems to want more! Snacks are usually things like homemade muffins, fruit, crackers, cheese, yoghurt.

My question is - does this mean she genuinely is that hungry? Is it ok to give her this much? She will usually eat 3 meals a day alongside this. She did start walking a month or so ago too so maybe it relates...

Just get rid of the bag. I do one snack a day as there's the longest gap between breakfast and lunch but no need for more than that. I don't think it's healthy for children to be constantly grazing, they need an appetite for their main meals..

Fill it with carrots and pepper and see what happens :D

Even if I don't have the bag she will just try and hunt through wherever they came from (pram, my handbag etc!) - she tends to eat fine at meals so doesn't seem to affect her appetite... just also struggle to believe she can be that hungry!

She’s not hungry. Part of it is boredom and attention seeking.Snacks in my house were tomatoes and carrot sticks.

Our snacks were pepper, cucumber, carrot, cut cherry tomatoes. They would have them a couple of times a day but not begging for more.

Never bothered me. Snacks are always fruit, veg, and maybe a babybel or some cheddar cheese chopped into little cubes or a sugar/sweetener free pouch yoghurt. I don’t see the problem unless they’re grazing all day long, snacks are becoming like meals, and it’s affecting eating meals together.

I also have a 15 month old who is a little snack monster😂 It is really normal, especially for those crazy energetic ones (like mine), their tummy is only small so they can’t really “stock up” on big meals the way we as adults do and so snacks between meal times is the norm.

We do yoghurt/cheese/crackers for her dairy & some fruit, outside of that if she asks for another snack we offer tomatoes, green beans, sweetcorn etc. If she is genuinely hungry then she eats it, if not then I know she’s not really hungry- usually she does eat it all though and never had any impact on her appetite for main meals.

The problem I would have would be her hunting them down. I'd do a few days we very few snacks to reset. Get rid of the snack bag and offer snacks at a time and frequency you are happy with.

There's nothing wrong with healthy snacks especially with a good appetite for meals but mindless grazing of food isn't ideal.
