Do we need 4 car seats?

Can I please have some realistic advice about car seats? Baby is 15 minths and reaching the point her infant car seat starts to look too small. Current one is a 360 swivel one which has been really handy so far and isofix.

Our routine is day 1- I drop off and pick up at grandparents 1 house. Day 2&3 home with me- day 4 I drop off and pick up at nursery, day 4 1 drop off at grandparents 2 house and DH picks up. Weekend generally both parents home. So currently I need the seat the most and put into the GP cars twice a week. DH puts back into his car on his pick up day. At the weekend it stays in whoever cars needs it. Safe to says there's alot of swapping about- so far not a major inconvenience but bit of a faff.

I want to keep baby RF, and all the next stage seats seem to be very heavy and bulky - and really not ideal for this level of swapping. How to other families get around this? Does everyone buy 4 car seats for 4 possible cars being used? GP need seats as they do older children school pick ups and in general don't want to be limited to being in the house.

Suggestions of seats welcome!

@BertieBotts thank you so much for the reply. I've seen some of your other posts- very knowledge without judgment is very appreciated. I since joined a Facebook page that was reccommend, and came away feeling more confused than ever, guilty she was in a nuna(arra) as these are supposedly rubbish despite us being happy with it till now, and that the only option is a £600 seat!

I think we've come to the conclusion that yes 2 would be best. I've literally been swapping the isofix base each time as in the infant seat its not too bad. I was just concerned doing that for these bigger seats looked alot tricker although I've never tried it, or even tried to do a belted seat before so it's all completely new..

Could I trouble you for a recommendation, what you would say was a good seat in general? I'm torn between a swivel for ease- although some say as baby gets older this makes it harder- and a belt/ tether thing that would last beyond 105cm?

Is the a website that's genuine to check safety scores etc?

Thank you!

We have both DC in a britax max safe pro in our main car - there are often sales and we got them for £165 each. The height limit for those is 125cm. As they’re tethered, we don’t tend to move them around. In our second car we have two x graco slimfit R129 (same as the joie but cheaper fabrics) which are the ones we use in grandparents cars from time to time. They belt in super easily but the rear facing height limit is only 105cm .

Oh goodness, Nuna Arra is fine, I have no idea why they are all so obsessed with Nuna seats being terrible, sure their inserts are a bit awkwardly shaped for some newborns but that's the only thing really. Safety wise they are some of the best rated.

If you can find a shop with the Nuna Todl in stock you could try moving it plus the base. If you've been doing that already and it works then it might work for you to continue. The Todl is of course bigger and heavier than the Arra but it's worth a try anyway.

I will come back and answer the others tomorrow as otherwise I'll go to bed too late :)

BeSafe Go Beyond is a swivel ERF that has a separate base and seat, so you could have a couple of bases and a seat. Still not cheap but might be worth looking at
