Hi all, I’m really struggling at the moment as my little one has just turned 5 months and can no longer be put down as he has before. He’s a lot bigger for his age, now in 9-12 month clothing. But also he just wants to be involved in everything and won’t stay still haha. We had a bouncer chair which he now tries to roll out of. He’s too big for his electric swinging chair. And he gets so frustrated when he’s having tummy time on his mat because he hasn’t yet mastered rolling from his tummy to his back. When lying him on his back he automatically rolls straight onto his tummy and then starts getting upset after a while. I’m stuck on places to put him when I need 5 minutes without holding him/ when he’s not asleep. Any suggestions?

We had a mamas and papas seat with a tray, I think you can use them from around 4/5 months. She was never in it long but it was handy to move around the house and sit her in it when I needed a minute.
We also had a jumparoo in the livingroom that kept her entertained for a short while

The inflatable sit up rings are brillant for this stage

also interested in that. My baby’s just turned 5m and 23lbs so outgrown his swinging chair too and also fustrated with the rolling. I have got him a high chair to sit him in but he gets so bored!

Best thing for them developmentally is to be out of containers and on the floor. Getting frustrated is what will motivate them to learn.

I agree that getting frustrated for a few days is what will prompt a bit more movement.

I just feel he’s quite limited to what he can do in the day. I’m definitely going to have a look into the inflatable rings and other play mats. I know it’s important for him to do as much tummy time as possible but just hard if I need to put him down for 5 minutes, without having him roll around everywhere x

A play pen if you have room?

Is he sitting up? My 6 month old also hates being put down, but since she's been able to sit up, it's been much easier. I know it sounds silly but I leave her in the washing basket sometimes with her toys so I know she can't go anywhere or hurt herself, and I can move her around with me from room to room!

Get a play pen or baby proof a room and let him roll around.

My baby used to hate tummy time, it made her so inconsolably upset. But once she was able to reach out and grasp toys she started tolerating being on tummy and now she LOVES it. If I put her on her back she's on her tummy in seconds playing. She spends so much of the day playing on the floor on her playmat and at 6 mos she can now roll both ways, sit up independently and is trying to crawl. We do contain her sometimes still in her swing if I am doing housework or in her cot if I am putting clothes away in her room but otherwise if she's not in my arms she's on the floor and it's improved her development so much. Maybe get a good sized playmat and just scatter toys and let him do his thing, I totally get the needing 5 mins of not having them in your arms!
