I have been thinking about going to university to do a three year law degree.I have interests in prosecution work or family law.Is anyone studying law that can share their experience and tell me is it hard work like everyone says? the thing is I already started university but having second thoughts.I finished one year at university already but thinking of changing my degree don't know if I am making the right decision

It can be tough, Law is very competitive and the Uni's are knocking graduates out left right and centre. I strongly recommend that you get some work experience first though. They teach you alot in the degree but when you start work there's alot of form filling and research and, depending on the firm, photocopying. It can also be expensive to train, to be a solicitor you would have to do a 3 yr degree plus 1 yr LPC course which costs around 8k just for this. There are some Uni's which are trying to combine the LLB and LPC though. I worked briefly, I had a crap boss who would move files off my desk then tell me off when I couldn't find them. I was also the photocopy girl. If I was given things to do it was only when she'd turn up at 2pm so she's expect me to stay late to finish which I couldn't do as I had to collect ds from after school club. I hated it, it really put me off but I know not all firms are like this. CPS is good and family friendly if you can get a job. Some tend to recruit in house and put their staff through the LLB. Phone around and try to get some work experience though. It will let you see what the job is really like.
