I have a 14 & 9 year old, my 14 year old has a sleep disorder (learning disability) he refuses any type of medication for it even though when he did have it he slept beauitifully but CAMHS told me he was old enough to make his own decison & we can’t force it.
Hes not to bad he tends to watch a film and goes to sleep around 1am.
My nine year old doesnt go to sleep till 10pm, and i’m finding it such hard work. Hes an active child who rarely sits still, always wanting to talk (which is great but not at 9pm when im trying to unwind!)
We are up at 6am as well so hardly getting up late!
Im just wondering what time everyone elses kids go to sleep and if this is normal.

I have an 8 and a half year old dd. She goes to bed at 8pm and wakes up at 5:30am mid week and 6:30am weekends. I also have a 4 year old ds. He goes to bed at 7pm and gets up at 5:50am mid week and 6:30am weekends. Alarm is set mid week for 5:30am for my husband to go to work but they obviously both hear it. Weekends no alarm but not really a lie in.

Hi
I have a 14 yo SD who mid week goes to bed around 11pm and is up at 7.15 for School... weekend is another story although she is getting better haha.

Also have a 9 yo DS who most nights mid week is in bed for 8-9pm (he has a couple of later football training sessions) and he is up at 6.30 then my 6 yo DS is in bed between 7.30-8.30 and again up at 6.30.

Weekends, depending on 9 yo kick off times and venues his bedtime is around 9-10pm and then he's up between 7-9. 6 yo is quite similar too, we do relax things off at weekend as both me and DH work long days in the week so it's nice to have full family days/nights at the weekend.

My 8YO goes to bed at 8.30pm in the week, 9pm on weekends. Has to be up at 7 for school but will sleep in to 7.30/8 at weekends. My niece is 14 and is usually asleep by 10.30 in the week because she has a lengthy commute to school so needs to be up early. No bedtime at weekends.

My 6yr old is asleep by 845 my 9yr old goes to sleep around 10 they both get up between 645 and 730 although the 9yr old will sometimes sleep in a little later at the weekend. They have baths around 745, then its straight into bed at 8ish. The 6yr old likes to watch cocomelon and his tablet turns off at 825 then either me or dh go in to tuck him in. The 9yr old usually watches a show like horrible histories, the tablet is turned off at 915 but he has always struggled to fall asleep so its usually about 10

My 7 year old usually asleep by 9:30 and 12 year old by 10:30pm.

I agree you can’t force a 14 year old to fall asleep, but you absolutely can expect them to stay in their bedroom without any screens (that includes a tv). Mine has no phone or any devices after about 9pm (whenever she comes upstairs for a shower). She can read or draw or do her hair or stare at the wall, but she can’t be watching films.

We all go up and go to bed around 8:30-9pm while Dh cleans up the kitchen for the morning and then comes up by 10pm. So I am in bed same time they are. We get up by 7am.

I stopped everything the other night, was exhausted (as in falling on the floor exhausted) and went to bed and found out everyone went to bed coming up to 1. (Dh was away). This was after nights of everyone kind of slopping to bed between ten and twelve and all beginning to get dark circles.

Have told ten year old nine or half nine unless something out of the ordinary (he gears tired early and wakes at 7 no matter what, I could see the difference since school holidays when he was in bed around ten every night, school times he’s 8.30/9)

Twelve year old ten o clock

14 yo half eleven at the latest, 12 in a special occasion as I don’t agree with anyone going to bed what essentially is the next day.

Hilariously 17yo is the easiest and goes to bed easily at about half ten unless he and 14yo have plans/ we’re all staying up.

No phones/ tablets etc after 8/8.30
