How many uniforms?

DD is starting school in Sept. How many pinafore dresses do I need? Currently have 2, wasn’t sure if I should get a 3rd. Everything seems to be out of stock everywhere, so thinking do I get a 3rd one now. Or 2 is enough? Thinking 3/4 polo shirts would be enough for the week too?
Honestly, I’m clueless!
Thanks

I would ask if possible when pe is and if they wear pe kit all day or expected to change. We brought enough for new everyday then found out they wear pe kit twice a week so the extra uniform was a waste. We brought 5 polo, two skirts and a couple dresses. Three branded cardigans and two from Tesco. Pe shorts and tshirts . (we also brought school trousers to start but everyone else had dress or skirts so they have never been worn).

We do 5 outfits so clean one each day - 2 lots of PE uniform, 2 dresses (either summer or grey winter) then 1 polo & skirt. Cycling shorts to go under the dresses

I also don't care about stains, they get messy at school 🤷

We get most of our uniform from the 2nd hand uniform but at school so it's super cheap

You at least need a white polo for every day minimum. I have a boy and buy 9 white shirts for the year. One for best (music concerts/photos) then 8 for day to day. A few end up in the bin over the course of the year due to clumsy whiteboard marker and pen stains that don’t come out.

Yes white board markers do NOT wash out

sometimes the paint doesn’t

I think they need a fresh everything every day. Reception classrooms get quite smelly and dd's clothes seem to absorb the classroom smell. No way could she re wear clothes and be fresh.

We had boys but had 5 polos, 3 jumpers and 3 shorts and trousers. PE kit was kept in school so if yours wear that in one day a week which seems to happen in some schools in the early years, you could get away with one less of everything

We do six of every basic and then 2 cardigans / fleeces

Do you mean you bought new uniform if it got a stain on?

If so I really wouldn't suggest you go down that road OP, who cares is school uniform has a few marks on?

Personally I don't see why this is a decision that needs to be made before the current school year has ended. You don't need to buy everything in advance, the supermarkets sell uniform all year round. If it's for budget reasons I'd suggest putting the money aside for later in the year and if you don't need it it's a nice bonus

I don't throw out for every blemish obviously, just the ones I feel are noticeable, I want them to feel smart going in. In the last month I've disposed of two white polos (one multiple shades of paint that wouldn't budge, one very large black whiteboard marker line) and one pair of trousers (ripped across the knee).

Definitely agree about being able to pick uniform up all year, we top up as needed from the supermarket and roll through the uniform that is still good at the end of the summer to the new school year.

My view is if the school can't be bothered to put the kids in aprons for painting/messy art sessions, then they have to accept my kids are going into school with paint/pen stains on their clothes
