My daughter is 4 and has hair just past her shoulder, what are others using for their kids? We were using Childs farm but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of choices for conditioner? I asked in boots and the lady there referred to it as baby hair products so are others using something else?

The kids use a 2 in 1 kids shampoo/conditioner from tesco. Sometimes I use my normal conditioner on DD afterwards (just a normal supermarket one).

At 4, they just used the normal family shampoo and conditioner. Which is usually just whatever is on offer at Tesco, pantene, herbal essences, etc. We often used Child’s Farm when they were little but by 4, were having showers so less risk of getting in eyes, etc.

DS still uses child's farm at 6, their coconut conditioner is really good for his hair (thick and curly) he can't use 2 in 1
I've found tkmaxx and Amazon often have a better range than boots and it's cheaper

any normal shampoo and conditioner is fine past the baby stage. I mostly used the Alberto basalm with tea tree as it could help with head lice

Dd is sensitive to most of them but finds the loreal kids more gentle.

Still using water the majority of the time here, little smidge of conditioner if either of them have been swimming or had a mucky/sweaty day. Tend to use the so strawberry one as they like the smell, but anything would do really.

We still use childs farm for DD1 (4y). We use the coconut shampoo and conditioner for curly hair though - maybe the range is different for straight hair? I've actually found our boots doesnt have the full childs farm range anymore, so I just buy off amazon now instead. Have you looked on the childs farm website to see if you can get a bigger choice by going direct?

He’s curly like me and I just use whichever curly hair shampoo or conditioner I’m currently trying out. I chop and change. He’s nearly 4.

Superscientist · 05/07/2025 19:37

We use the child's farm solid shampoo and body wash bar and the child's farm curly hair shampoo twice a week and child's farm leave in conditioner every day. She's nearly 5 and has fine curly hair

Wynter25 · 05/07/2025 19:38

I use the bluey one

Wynter25 · 05/07/2025 19:38

Or child farm

WhereOnEarthIsMyPlanet · 05/07/2025 19:41

By that age mine just used the same shampoo and conditioner as me. I use Faith in Nature sulphate free stuff.

Herbal essences for my 2. I haven’t bothered with baby products since they’ve been old enough to understand ‘close your eyes’ and DD8 does it herself in the shower and uses ridiculous quantities so we have to stick to cheap products!

My eldest has inherited my very sensitive skin so we’ve been using Oilatum head to toe wash. It is quite pricey at £6 a bottle but I like to get it when it’s on offer. I cannot stress how good it is though, DS’s bumpy skin was cured by this.

For conditioner we use the Aveeno Kids conditioner. It’s brilliant! It is also a bit pricey but it goes a long way.

However, we have recently started trying out the Sanex Baby head to toe. It’s only £3 a bottle, sometimes on offer for £2.50, so a lot more affordable than oilatum and it has a lovely scent. So far, DS hasn’t had any skin reactions to it and his skin looks and feels very moisturised.

DS is almost 4 for reference and baths with his little brother hence why we’re using baby/kid appropriate products. I find boots have a great range but tesco also sell all of them.
