Non minty toothpaste and mouthwash

Would anyone have any recommendations for a non minty toothpaste and mouth wash please? Dd is nearly 12. It's a battle to get her to brush her teeth for the recommended time as she doesn't like the taste. We've tried lots of different toothpastes but she says they burn.
I've seen a few posts saying that children's toothpaste is ok to use as long as the fluoride is high enough, is this true?

Have you tried Nice smile toothpaste? It comes in various fruit flavours. I’ve seen it in Poundland, Home Bargains, Savers and B&M.

Corsodyl isn’t minty but it is ££

We use Sanderson's 1450 (we buy online) it's the least minty non-strawberry one we've found and all 3 DC use it (one with audhd and a load of sensory issues).

Re pp; most dentists don't care as long as the Floride is right (check the toothpaste though as some have added sugar - I kid you not!)

Oranurse

ScrummyDiva2 · 02/07/2025 21:13

Have you looked at the HiSmile range of toothpastes? They come in lots of flavours and are stocked in Boots and Superdrug.

miffmufferedmoof · 02/07/2025 21:15

Oranurse is flavourless
Ultradex mouthwash has no taste - basically like water
I get them on Amazon

fireplaceembers · 02/07/2025 21:15

Any children’s one with adult level of fluoride. Sainsburys used to do a berry own brand one which was good, but I haven’t bought it for a while

mouthwash is pretty pointless especially if you’re using it after brushing as it just washes off the fluoride

Theunamedcat · 02/07/2025 21:15

Hismile is brilliant my son had watermelon toothpaste for ages then one day decided he could use mint toothpaste after all

Perzival · 02/07/2025 21:15

Oranurse

I buy Zing online (sucked in by an insta ad initially but I really recommend them!) They have fruity flavours such as lemon, peach and apple and kiwi, but perhaps might be a bit too tangy for your DD if she finds some burny.

LostMySocks · 02/07/2025 21:16

DS uses aqua fresh 3 to 8 splash which is strawberry.
Florine is 1400 ish

summerday25 · 02/07/2025 21:18

My DD has sensory related neurodiversity and struggles with the same issues as your DD. We were using hismile but were told by our dentist that the fluoride wasn’t high enough. Now we order Colgate Watermelon from Amazon and she will use this. It’s expensive but worth it!

Im not a fan of foaming, minty toothpaste and like the fennel one

Dd was like this. Kids pronamel she found OK as mider.

We also have zing toothpaste, tastes of peach or apple.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 02/07/2025 21:59

I use Sainsburys everyday fruity berry as I hate mint. I will actively avoid brushing if I taste mint but can tolerate this easily. 1450 ppm F which is the same as Aquafresh toothpaste and only 80p and for mouthwash Aquafresh big teeth which is a fruit flavour. My dentist says the kids one is fine as it has the adult level of fluoride

verityveritas · 02/07/2025 22:07

King fisher, the mint is very mild, but they also do fennel. Just check you get the fluoride one.

Butterbeanbutterbo · 02/07/2025 22:11

I get a sort of burning sensation from toothpastes containing sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS). Could something like that be a factor? Zing does fruit flavours and also is SLS free

dementedpixie · 02/07/2025 22:11

You can use kids stuff if it has 1450ppm fluoride
Oranurse has no flavour

Only use mouthwash between brushings as if you use it after brushing you will be washing the fluoride away

Toddlerteaplease · 02/07/2025 22:25

Zing toothpaste is nice but expensive. Loads of different flavours.

Mica8 · 02/07/2025 22:38

Boots have flavoured ones but they are expensive >)

Sugar? Which ones? Surely that’s not legal

elliesmummy19 · 02/07/2025 23:12

OraNurse. It’s literally the only toothpaste I can use that doesn’t bring me out in a terrible rash/cause horrible mouth ulcers. I’ve tried all sorts of mint and other flavoured toothpastes, children’s toothpastes, fruity toothpaste, they all make my mouth sore and cause a rash. OraNurse is the only one that stopped it.

Colinorpercy · 02/07/2025 23:18

B and M/Home bargains do a dupe of the HiSmile one and the dupe is actually better as it has 1450 fluoride unlike the original (which is about a tenner!). It comes in a few flavours, my daughter likes the grape one.

AnonMJ · 02/07/2025 23:29

The cola flavour hi smile is the one my kids loce

dentist told us to avoid mouthwash.
