I could only get 2 doses of Calpol into my boy- injections at 10am
Calpol at 10.15 & 2.30pm
a was just too tired for his bed time ones and he’s sleeping.
i did try but he was sick anything I got into him, is a nightmare.

Does he actually need all three doses of Calpol?

First time around he got the 3 but he didn’t need any more.
I’m so anxious

See how he is when he wakes up.

DesperateFTM567 · 02/07/2025 19:34

Not necessarily, if he's sleeping he's fine! Calpol is for their own comfort.

fthisfthatfeverything · 02/07/2025 19:35

The nurse said it’s harder to get on top of if I wait until the temp has risen.
So I’m wondering what everyone else gave their babies

It’s to stop a temp spike with the men b Vaccine.

Were his vaccines delayed as MenB isn't usually given at 16 weeks?

MenB is on the schedule for 8 weeks and 12 weeks and then at 1 year

Edited

I was told he only needed the one dose with the men B vaccine and to give more if needed. He'll be fine.

I couldn't get any Calpol in my baby after her 8 week injections, anything I managed to get her to swallow caused her to vomit across the room. She had a bit of a temperature for a few hours then back to normal the next day, she was very sleepy too. Didn't even bother trying to give it for the 16 weeks ones.

She's recently had her 12 month ones and she loves Calpol now!

fthisfthatfeverything · 02/07/2025 19:58

What country are you? Which set do you get the men B ones? Is that One that may put temp up

cheesychips15 · 02/07/2025 20:04

I'm in England, I was referring to the MenB ones in my post above (otherwise it would have been pointless replying! 😂)

She did have a temperature for a bit but was fine the next day.

I'm not the OP and my youngest is 13 months so maybe it's changed recently, but I've just checked her red book and she definitely had MenB at 8 and 16 weeks. I remember the 12 week ones being the ones that weren't as bad.

Paaseitjes · 02/07/2025 20:36

We had a set of 12w vaccines today in an EU country. I gave him calpol first. The paed acted like I'd given him heroin and gave me a lecture about it only being for serious illnesses. WTF! He's totally going to get addicted to disgusting banana flavored baby paracetamol...

The schedule changed yesterday so won’t apply to the OPs baby as he’s already had his pneumococcal vaccine at 12 weeks, so gets MenB again at 16 weeks.

@fthisfthatfeverything try and get another 2.5mls in him when he next wakes if you can. You can even do it when they’re asleep, very slowly and dribbled in to the back of the cheek.

Tinkerbella86 · 02/07/2025 21:03

Don't stress about it just give some when little one wakes up if they still have a temperature our little one just had her 16 week injections today and it's raising her temperature too 😘

Superscientist · 03/07/2025 09:32

My daughter screamed inconsolably for 3 days after the 4 month jabs (2020 when menB was part of 4 months vaccines) and no chance would she have gone to sleep happily and missed a dose of paracetamol. In ~5h we saw the HV, GP three times and then a paediatrician!
She had paracetamol and ibuprofen both every 4h alternated and under paediatric supervision told to ignore the doses in 24h directions on the bottle whilst we got on top of her symptoms. By the third day she only needed recommended doses.
She has a strong reaction to the menB vaccine as the same happened at 12 months but she only had the menB vaccine that day as she had the 12 months vaccines individually

I'd go by the baby, keep an eye on temperature and temperament!

MammaTo · 03/07/2025 11:56

I don’t think it’s a hard and fast rule that they need the 3 doses of calpol, just do what you can and follow baby’s lead. If baby is old enough for Nurofen it might be worth giving a dose of that, I find the Nurofen helps with discomfort and temps more then the calpol does.
