What to do on ‘overtired’ days?

My 16 month old was awake 3 hours in the night and then up at 5am. I think as a result of a shorter nap yesterday and possible over tiredness - but who knows?! On days like today when they’re clearly overtired but really hyper, would you do an outside walk? Quiet time? Or go to a class where she can dance and run around? I’m probably overthinking but never know what’s best!

Just adding that she usually naps 12-2 (approx) but was going to just try an earlier nap rather than trying to do 2.

Tbh, I'd do whatever it was that would keep me sane! So if I needed to get out the house they'd come too. If I needed quiet time that's what they'd get. Now she's older I'm a bit stricter on ensuring she has some quieter days at home - but that's because she's better at occupying herself.

I wouldn't do a class, it'll be over stimulation. I'd definitely get outdoors. Short park trip for 45 mins. Then encourage a nap. The fresh air will do both of you good.

Mine are a bit older now but we go to the park, a local forest, or somewhere to paddle. I aim for outside but in a quiet environment. With the buggy so when legs are tired we can still keep walking

I agree that a class would probably be too much - do something you can control so you can leave if it gets too much. If you want something inside and more organised then maybe a playgroup/stay and play type thing.

We ended up going on a walk to the park, on the swings and for a toddle around on the grass. So looks like I was along the same thinking with everyone ☺️ that was my worry with a music class, would be too overstimulating when already tired! She’s asleep now and think might join her!
