Teaching - at what point would you go back full time?

I’m a teacher working 4 days at the moment. I have a tlr so currently only get 0.8 of it despite doing the full role. I currently don’t work on a Monday and am trying to decide if / when to go back up to full time.

My dc are year 1 and year 3 so are at school on my day off but with the school run, I get from 9-2.45 which goes so quickly. Their school is only 5 minutes up the road and they finish later than me on a Monday so whilst they would have an extra day of breakfast club, they wouldn’t need after school club as we don’t have any meetings on that day and my plan would be to leave straight away.

The reason I’m torn is it is nice having the day off - but in reality, it’s not many hours and I don’t tend to do much with the time. My dh thinks I should stick with having the day off as I can chill and run some errands if needed.

At work, I already do all of the evenings / cpd / parents evenings so this wouldn’t increase. I also already do my full tlr role. I would have an extra day of teaching and marking (which I do at lunch anyway).

The salary difference for the year is 12k before tax. We don’t need the money but like most, it would always help. I also get school holidays so have those with the dc and both dc are at school on my day off.

What would you do in my position? Would you stay on 4 days? Or if you went back up to 5, at what point would you do it?

It's whether you want to be more tired with fewer rest days, basically.

You do well though not to work on your day off. When I was working two days a week I still spent at least half a day planning for the two days.

If you don’t need the money I can’t think of a single reason why you would want to teach full time. I’m a teacher on 0.8 with a toddler and I live for that day.
