Help to clear out outgrown toys!

My children are age 11 & nearly 15 so going into year 7 & 10 at school in September. I still have a room absolutley FULL of toys: boxes of lego, nerf guns galore, board games, piles of action figures, cars & loads of books!!

This is the room I work from home in & being surrounded by this mess isnt great. They no longer play with the toys, they are more into gadgets, gaming, sports etc now.

That said, I dont know why I find it SO hard to get rid of these things? I don't know if its because they cost me so much money or if they hold nice memories of when they were younger. Maybe I'm hoping the toys will be picked up & played with again which happens from time to time? I almost dont want to admit they're growing up which sounds silly!

Should I give them to charity? Donate to school? Sell them?

What do you do? I would welcome some advice please x

Pick a few very sentimental things you don’t want to part with. Ask your children what they want to do. I bet they’ll want to sell the lot and split the money between them for something. In which case, do a car boot sale with the agreement that anything that doesn’t sell goes to charity unless it’s something you think you can get decent money for on Vinted/Facebook Marketplace and (crucially!) have the energy to sell.

Also, they have to help with the car boot sale! It’s a good thing for them to be a part of.
