Siblings and toys

I have ds4 and ds2 and they never sit on the floor and play nicely with toys together. They get the toy box out, dump it all over the floor and then don't play with any of it. They fight ALL THE TIME and just play with cushions, their bedding or soft play. I spend all day every day tidying up and I'm so stressed with the constant mess and their behaviour. Would it be okay if I just got rid of majority of their toys? I just feel guilty they won't have many toys but then they barely get played with anyway. Magnatiles they play with which I'll keep, same with train track and some orchard toys and other bits but I'm just exhausted atm and trying to find ways to help me be less stressed. Any suggestions or toy ideas they can both play with?

Yeah do it, it's quality over quantity!

A few well used toys is way better than loads.

Yes reduce the amount down, and ideally have smaller separate storage with one thing at a time out. It is also never too early to make them tidy up after themselves.

So agree with reducing the amount. I only have one 4 year old and his toys are kept to an absolute minimum. The mess and chaos with 2 must be doing your head in. Don’t keep anything that isn’t played with in the way it should be. If a toy is simply fought over only to be immediately discarded anyway, or is just used as a projectile, just get rid of it. You’ll know yourself which toys are precious to each child, you know what can be kept and what can go.

We have only- magnatiles, brio tracks and trains, small box of Lego, and one toybox with a small assortment of toys like dinosaurs, vehicles, doctor’s kit, torch etc. Few soft toys on his bed as well. Along with books, it really is more than enough.
