The GF book 'Potty Training in One Week' has been recommended to me but i'm not sure if it's worth buying. Has anyone else read it?

Cheers

Yes. I found it to be excellent, It has a question and answer section at the front which will give you an indication of whether they are ready or not. It was my bible and i stuck to it as best as suited my dd. She did it within the week , and Irecommend this to all my friends.
I give it 5/5. I bought my copy from e bay, i think the rrp is £5.00. Well worth it.
Best of Luck

Love your name choufleur. read the GF book (some parts of it anyway) and it wasn't for us. It's too 'all or nothing' and didn't suit our general approach with our kids, so we just used common sense and advice from posts here. Worked really well, if you want some tips let me know. BP

i'm not really sure whether ds is ready. he's only 2.1yo but keeps taking his nappy off and saying he wants to wear pants. when he's not pre-occupied he will go on the potty really well, with a little bribery for when he does a wee or poo. When he's busy though he understandably just forgets, which isn't a problem as he is still in nappies. Not sure whether to give it a go or not. i suppose if it doesn't work we can always go back to nappies.

It is better if you aim at not going back to nappies. You could get some nice knickers - we got some Thomas knickers, and some Pirate knickers and DS really didn't want to get them wet! The best way I have found was to keep a very close eye on him, so to speak, so about 20-30 minutes after a drink, ask him if he needs a wee and sit him on the putty even if he says no. Eventually, only sit him down when he says yes, and when going out I was putting on him a pull up, but still offering a wee regularly. We had good days and bad days, but overall he 'got it' after only 2 days and had 'accidents' for about two weeks. Although, he still has the odd accident if he is very busy.

2.1 is a bit young, you are right, I remember DS was like yours at 2.1 and we waited until he was 2.4 before making the move.
