Using muslin over stroller?

I’ve just bought this from Vinted now that we’re getting a bit more sunshine!
It’s like a canopy so that slit is at the front of the stroller which I believe is to allow air flow? Just wanted to check if this is safe to use? It’s from a reputable brand (Jojo Maman Bebe) but I’ve read that you shouldn't use muslin to cover strollers as it can cause overheating but then why would this item be sold if that’s the case? I can’t find the original item on the Jojo Maman Bebe website for clarity, only the muslin canopy for buggy’s which is still available to buy so just looking for advice.
Thanks!

I think you need to show it to us on the buggy, but generally speaking it's fine. It's also fine to use a muslin you just have to exercise common sense.

If its a snoozeshade with breathable fabric... yes.

Jojo is probably breathable - you can tell from the fabric.
You can sort of see through it and if you hold it to your mouth and breath there is almost no resistance.

If you aren't convinced just buy a snooze shade - £10 2nd hand on vinted

Muslins, blankets and other covers on strolling can cause overheating but it’s how they are used rather than a sweeping thing. Covering the strolled to give shelter from the sun is a good thing but you should ensure that some points are open so that the air flow is good. The over heating occurs when people fully cover the strollers and don’t consider airflow.

I much prefer using a good pram umbrella to keep good air flow

If they block UV light then they are OK - some of them do.

TBH you can use common sense with this. Stick your hand in the buggy and check it's not getting too hot inside. If it is, open it up to improve airflow.

Products are sold which are against safety advice all the time, you can buy no end of third party car seat accessories, which can't possibly have been crash tested with every seat on the market and cot bumpers are still allowed to be sold even though they have been advised against for about 20 years now.

But also if you bought it second hand you have no idea if it's up to current safety standards, so worth checking.

People should never cover a buggy with a big muslin

Its all about airflow. if you use a muslin over the hood and completely cover the pram or buggy it seals in heat and increases the temp inside. Using a muslin as a shade with open sides and end (attaching to handles) is fine as there is good airflow through.

I agree about allowing airflow. If it’s from Jojo it is probably reputable. I wouldn’t buy this sort of product from random Amazon brands for sure. Also minimise time in direct sunlight on hot days. Even with a Snoozeshade a pram would get too hot if left in the direct sun for too long.
